I stopped reading after Downs has talent. He is the least talented TE that I've ever seen start at Tennessee. He is limited in the passing game, very poor route runner who gets zero separation and he is just horrendous in run blocking. Not sure where you see this talent coming from with him.

This roster Jones inherited was flat out terrible. Far worse than the one Dooley inherited in 2010. People keep pointing to the returning Oline this past year but conveniently fail to mention just how horrible the talent and depth were at every other position outside of the Oline and Dline (which was way too senior heavy and will be a huge weakness next season). I've never seen the WR, TE, QB, DB and LB positions look so awful as they were heading into the 2013 season.

All of this. We were a couple key injuries away from a truly pathetic season of 3-4 wins.

So you're never going to come back to this website after signing day? Just save yourself the effort of banning yourself and then later creating a new screenname and returning (a la Ron Swanson).

So, Ron used to post under a different name and lost a ban bet with himself?

Once again Pearson, Helm and Malone have never stepped foot on a D-1 field. The problem is y'all build 17 yr olds up so much then when they don't produce it's the coaches fault or the players just don't have it. We've seen about 1 FR WR per year come into the SEC and make an impact and our fanbase expects 2-3 per year off our roster alone.

Those three haven't played yet but they are huge upgrades from the type of talent Dooley recruited at those positions. Just read the evaluations on those guys coming out compared to Dooley's guys on the current roster. Dooley's recruits were continously overhyped by people on here. The 4-stars he landed were almost all bordeline 3/4 star type guys who were viewed as major projects coming out of HS by the talent evaluators.

Simms/Bray vs. Worley/Peterman/Dobbs - Push

Poole/Oku vs. Neal/Lane - advantage 2013.

Dmo, G. Jones, and Zro vs. Pig, Croom, North - huge advantage for 2010.

Stocker v. Downs - massive advantage 2010.

2010 Oline vs. 2013 Oline - It was basically the same, so massive advantage for 2013.

Offense overall - 2010 had better pass catchers, but I'd still go with 2013 being an overall more talented group.

Walker/Martin/G. Williams vs. Smith/Miller/Walls - Push.

Hughes/Thomas/Jeffery vs. McCullers/Saulsberry/O'Brien - advantage 2013.

Thompson/Reveiz/Lathers vs. Brewer/AJ - slight edge to 2013.

Teague/Evans/Anderson vs. Sutton/Coleman/Toney - slight edge to 2013.

Jackson/Waggner vs. Randolph/McNeil - advantage 2010.

Defense overall - even though they didn't perform particularly well, 2013 is definitely a more talented defense.

Lincoln v. Palardy - edge to 2013.

Obviously, this is a rough sketch of who I remember playing the most. Both teams were thin, young, and flawed. I think the 2010 was less talented, but by a small margin. Several guys on the 2013 team, IMO, have more physical ability, but coaching turnover and a generally sad culture the past several years hindered their development. Basically, higher ceiling for 2013 than for 2010, given maximum outputs for both teams.

I will go back to being a reader and a nonposter.

I read VN for years before joining. I was never a member of any other online message board before so I can go back to that now

There will come a time when someone will say something so outlandish in your mind that you have no choice but to respond. I'll do my best to provoke your triumphant return. :hi:

I am the kind of guy that isn't afraid to draw a line in the sand and stand by it for others. Got to do the same for myself

S'ok...we'll know it's you when a new poster with a start date after NSD starts making ban bets if both Jack Jones AND Cecil Cherry are Vols on NSD in 2015 :)

These ban bets are like old school raslin' loser leave town matches. So what if you lost just return in a mask!

Saying a top 5 nationally ranked WR, Malone, and the #2 JUCO WR, Pearson, and the #1 nationally ranked TE, Helm, to go with Pig and North is "the making of a good WR nucleus" is building these guys up to unfair lofty expectations that can only lead to their failure and fan criticism? I don't quite see that.

I don't know what's gonna happen with our WR corps next year. But I feel very confident that adding Malone, Pearson and Helm significantly increases the talent of UTs receiving corps. That's my only point.
