Saying a top 5 nationally ranked WR, Malone, and the #2 JUCO WR, Pearson, and the #1 nationally ranked TE, Helm, to go with Pig and North is "the making of a good WR nucleus" is building these guys up to unfair lofty expectations that can only lead to their failure and fan criticism? I don't quite see that.
I don't know what's gonna happen with our WR corps next year. But I feel very confident that adding Malone, Pearson and Helm significantly increases the talent of UTs receiving corps. That's my only point.
One name that continues to trend in the right direction for Tennessee is Havelock, N.C., running back Derrell Scott.
Some around Scott have let it be known that Tennessee is in a good position right now and are currently edging out South Carolina. But, as we've continued to say, this one is far from over.
South Carolina won't give up on someone they have recruited very hard for a very long time. Several people close to Scott have also said that he would like to make his decision before signing day.
The in-home visits for Scott will be extremely important, but also watch for the potential of another official visit if Auburn or Florida State pushes hard down the stretch.
Who gives a rats ass about auburn. Why are some of you so scared of that loser ass cheating school? Hope you didn't forget to plug in your night lights.
Oh, I agree with you. They cheat worse than any program in America including old day Alabama. If that's your issue for fearing them, then I agree.I'm not scared of Auburn, but I am convinced they're throwing money around and the NCAA is turning a blind eye. Yeah, I know they're in the NC game which gets them lots of attention, but I trace it back to Cam Newton. As I recall 2-3 other players from that time period also claimed to receive illegal benefits, but it all got conveniently swept under the rug. Personally, I think it's another example of a botched NCAA investigation. They followed
this up by severely botching up their
investigation into Miami. They're pretty much a bunch of incompetent idiots unless you straight up confess(Bruce Pearl). With the exception of last year, Auburn has pretty much been living on the high hog since getting away with buying that NC.
I don't see Scott as the kind of kid who buys into the auburn BS they sell to recruits
That school is as dirty as it gets and it always seems like UT leans or commits who start getting a last minute hard sell from Auburn tend to listen.. You can call it fear or whatever you like, but Auburn jumping into any recruitment is always cause for concern for us imo. Gabe Wright, Lawson, Lambert (just last week.) I'm sure there's others I'm missing..
Good thing is, right now they don't seem like much of a factor in things with Scott.
- vqwe begin this edition of the war room like we do every week with a couple of ground rules. Everything that is reported in the war room must stay in the war room. That is how this works. The information in war room is detailed to the point that it does not need to be passed beyond the doors of this post. This is a special feature for subscribers only, which is why it is posted on the premium board. Posting here is the only way to ensure that the information is exclusive to the general's quarters. The war room is a collective effort of notes and news gathered throughout the week by brent, john, rob, paul and austin. The war room will only work if everyone helps make it work ... And now that we trust everyone had a merry christmas it's on with the news.
