'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Time will tell. Kid definitely has some talent to play CB. I hope he balls out and get some PT this year but with a lot of the juco guys that were hurt last year and the guys already on the roster last year coming back its going to be tough.

Who exactly will keep him off the field???

*facepalm* VH3 does not mean Vic, it means Vernon Hargreaves III. Breaker never talked about Vic. VH3 was probably the most coached up DB prospect to come out in a long time.

Watching y'all's discussion on that point, where neither of you knew what the other was talking about was like watching two paraplegics playing in a heated soccer match.

Discussion was classic.Should have let it ride.

Didn't say he wouldn't see the field this year. I know Coleman has been the weakest link this past year in the defensive back field. All I am saying is that there are players that didn't play last year because of injuries that he going to have to compete with as well as the others that are coming in with him.

I haven't kept up with Gaulden much other than the insane amount of tackles he had. What is the position is he projecting? Corner or safety?

Toney IMO

Coleman was not the weakest link. Weakest link was Swafford.

1. Swafford
2. Toney
3. McNeil
4. Coleman
5. Randolph/Sutton

I don't know about that. Coleman was pretty bad. If it wasn't for Jones' injury he would've played nickel all season.

Coleman was worse than McNeil

Not at all IMO. SS and and NB were the consistent weaknesses in the passing game and the running game. Coleman has a propensity to get beat over the top, but he plays the run fairly well, tackles well, and isn't terrible in coverage.

I agree. Coleman's biggest problem is his lack of ball skills. He is usually in decent position but just doesn't find the ball.

McNeil plays the run alright too and generally tackled alright. Coleman's ball skills are downright poor. He wouldn't start for almost any other school in the SEC.

I love Gaulden. I think he has a chance to help this team right away on special teams and I think he could push at the safety spot opposite of Randolph. Love how hard he comes downhill in the run game. Really good football player.

I think it's pre-mature to ink anyone in as a starter. I think Gaulden and Kelly are safeties and will get a look at nickel. I don't think either are corners.

I think the competition back there is going to be good this summer and fall and will be fun to watch.

They have to get faster and more athletic in their nickel and dime sets. This game now is really a 3-3-5 or a 4-2-5 game. That's almost your base defense any more, but your strong safety and nickel guy have to be really good tacklers in the run game and really get down hill in the box against the run.

I agree with Hubbs. I've thought for a long time now that Gaulden is day 1 starter at NB and would be a better fit at S than CB. Buck Fitzgerald has said from the beginning of recruiting Gaulden that he's a Safety in college. I know many on here like him at CB so let the debate!

I think it's pretty obvious he is more comfortable at Safety
