'14 TN DB Rashaan Gaulden (UT Signee 2/5/14)

same for Moseley even though his weight hasn't been updated since he got here. I'm pretty sure hes more like 175 now at least. But still you just hope he doesn't gets caught in a 1 on 1 with todd gurley, tj yeldon, Mike Davis or derrick henry. that would be ugly. Guaranteed to be on Sports center.

He's put together well but in person he definitely looks like he needs some major weight room work, but he know that and we've already seen guys come in and get jacked quick under Lawson. I wouldn't be worried about that. If he redshirts, it's gonna be due to injury or he gets buried and no one else gets injured which ain't gonna happen.

Can't afford to redshirt the young kids. We don't have the players to do it.

We also can't afford to put this guy on the field if he isn't physically ready. Yeah he's talented by if he can't handle the punishment physically he would be spoiled good later in his career and no help to us. I don't think he will win us or loose us any games.

I believe between McDowell and TKJr who are both just as talented will probably be able to make more impact than him in their freshman year.

Gaulden is something completely different than TK Jr and McDowell. Both of those guys are very much known commodities at this point. TK Jr is going to be a great college football player. McDowell may end up being a linebacker before it's all said and done.

Gaulden, however, has a degree of intrigue to him as we don't know where his ceiling may be. Could he have been a five-star if he played his junior year of highschool as quite a few have claimed? His film is unreal. His measurables are unreal.

I'm really glad we have all three of those players on board.

People need to get the idea of bringing in talented kids to redshirt out of their heads.

That the goal. You know you're back when your talent redshirts. Can't wait for those days. Probably only one if any of Gaulden, TK, Cortez, Berry, Payne, Moseley redshirts this year though. We aren't back yet lol

One thing on his weight is you have to remember he is coming off of track and an I think it was an appendix or something that had him hospital. He might have just recently lost the weight. He was already pretty small but he does play bigger than he is

I love this problem. The great thing is whoever doesn't start is coming off the bench to give the 1s a break, that will be huge huge huge. A two deep that doesn't include no names we haven't heard of. Makes me happy inside.

I know it's blasphemy... but unleass Rashaan gains some serious weight between now and this season, he's likely looking at a redshirt year given he only weighs 167.

Evan's Eleven

Inky only weighed a whopping 167 lbs his sophomore year. He showed up at UT just over 150 lbs. Weight isn't the end all be all (speed, angles, proper leverage, where you hit someone, can matter more depending on the circumstances). People tend to forget speed + mass = force and more speed = more force and can often make up for mass.

If Rashaan plays safety I'd like to see him gain some weight but if he's a player then he's a player and I certainly wouldn't hold him back because of weight.

I hope he can make it through practice tackling Hurd . Brandolph and cam have 2 spots locked up. Evan at 195 certainly has a leg up on winning the other corner spot in size and speed. McD and TK are better suited for McNeals safety spot right now. That leaves nickel if he gets playing time this year. I hope he gains weight cause he hits nasty. He will be one helluva beast before Lawson is through with him hopefully.

Agreed on your point, but here's a small error.Momentum = Mass times acceleration. It's the change in velocity, not the velocity itself.

What players do we have that are better than the freshmen????

If we played 7 on 7 on Saturdays and he didn't have to tackle I would agree with you. If he can't bring down the ball carrier we will have the same issue that we have with McNiel.

Secondly you don't know how good he is at all cause he has yet to play a down of college football. You are the one who proclaim the incoming freshman future all-Americans ever summer.

This is the SEC man most players who start(besides Vandy and UK players) are incredibly talented. Bash me all you want I'm just being logical man a 165lb DB freshman won't fair well against a 210lb rb or wr

Inky also got jacked up during and Air Force game which led to the end of this career. Yeah you are right about all the variables but what happens when you go up against a guy like Mike Davis or Todd Gurley?
