But, to be serious, if you're recruiting a kid that has not yet signed and/or committed to your program and you find out he has a serious injury which may compromise his playing ability going forward, why would you not just wish him well and move on to another similarly talented, healthy prospect. Seems like the only pragmatic thing to do.
As for Jabo, it wasn't at all clear that he was even gonna be eligible so the staff made contingency plans for the betterment of the program by bringing in Pickett. When Jabo actually qualified at the 11th hour they helped find him another place to play. I don't think they handled the situation poorly.
