As long as Hendrix and Barnett re-affirm their commitment to the coaches, then unfortunately I think Cory Thomas is gone. I'm curious if they still bring him in for an OV this weekend. If he cancels, then I'm guessing they feel very good about the rest of the DL commits. Butch has a plan, so whatever he decides will be what is best for the program. He hasn't let us down yet this cycle.

Every year we see defensive linemen being bull rushed by other schools trying to flip them at the last minute. Rarely do you see this with other positions.

We've lost and added several non dl committs last minute. From last year going back as far as I've followed recruiting.

Hahaha lets let a 4 star DL go. You know because we get who we want when we want on the DL(Sarcasm). Just baffles me that someone would say let him go.

I think the issue is that teams like Bama at the moment dont lose as many D-line players because the players that commit there realize that the minute they start messing around with other teams Bama will just replace them with someone just as good. Our problem is that we land one or two big fish and then come NSD those big fish take visits and we really can't threaten them by saying hey we will sign another top player in your place if you take visits because no other top players want to come here at the moment.

From FranklinVol this morning...

Didn't have anything new last night and don't this early AM. Should know more later today/tonight. Problem is I'm traveling today and even though I'm expecting a phone call about this, I may not be able to post until tonight. As of this moment, I still think Derek will be a Vol. I know he really likes the DL coach at MO and I think they are trying to get him to visit to "make sure" while UT is saying "you're a Vol. Why visit somewhere else?" He's 17 and it's a big decision. Again, unless I hear otherwise, I still believe that it goes our way next Wednesday. Can't imagine the weekend going any better for him and his mom last weekend and she is squarely in our corner. Have a great day Big Orange brothers and sisters! Hope we get Scott today!

There's you're answer. VQ isn't trying to sell subs, the kid might visit. I think he's going to be a Vol but visiting other places isn't made up to sell subs.

So mizzou made a run at Hendrix and as it looks like that may not pan out, they move on to Barnett. Hopefully they strike out there and Thomas is next on their list. With him being more less gone already, I could live with them taking Cory off our hands. If kids are taking trips, there is a very good chance you lose them. Hope the coaches can get all this under control going forward.

Im not comfortable losing anyone we want to a yearly opponent...or anyone for that matter. If the staff wants Thomas I do too.

I would like to keep Thomas as well. IMO he just looks to be the most likely to flip. He is seriously shopping himself around and IMO miss st will be his final landing spot. The numbers also make me think we will need to lose another one or so IF Scott and or Adoree are Vols. The fact that we lose Mouhon and the staff does not look to make a play for any other recruits points to numbers could still be an issue IMO.

He has always said he was going to visit and he's being told about the numbers we have coming in this class on the dl. If Butch wants to keep him he'll be a Vol in the end. If not then watch for a switch. The Mouhon recruitment is the tell, IF it starts looking like that then watch for a quick decommit.

I think you're underestimating Barnett's versatility. He could easily end up playing SDE or DT 3 years down the road.
