Their 247 board swears he is a silent commit bc he is following a couple vandy people. Barton and Ryan shot it down but the term over there is " where there's smoke there's fire"

How is it that we're not involved with him when 3 of his last 4 follows are Rod Chance, Coach Mason, and ACS? Also noticed that Rod Chance recently started following him. Oh, and he said no interviews until NSD. As they say, when there's smoke, there's fire and there's a lot of smoke here imo. Thoughts?

Idk, he's pulling a Gibson (being awfully quiet) which is likely a sign that he won't be signing with UT. Considering we were in his top 2 when he made his decision, it's logical to infer that he wants to be here. Honestly, I know he had some issues (late hit or whatever) but this kid is a serious talent and I'd also love to stick it to UT. That would be a huge loss for them considering their need on the dline

The gym teacher episode with Biff from Back to the Future being accused of inappropriate touching is so awesome.

why should he? NSD is in less than 72 hours. theres nothing to say. these guys are just grasping for anything they can. hell, even barton got on there the other day and said its nothing and they keep making stuff up.

If James Franklin couldn't pull this kid after recruiting him hard for well over a year, no way Mason can after just a few weeks. JMO

I think Vandy is pushing no doubt.

Mason, Chance, and Bruno Reagan.

Just cause they are pushing, and Barnett listens though doesnt mean he flips.

I think its simply to late in the game.

Most everything I have read makes me think he is a VOL. Just odd to start following a coach of a rival school days before NSD. Maybe it's nothing. Maybe it is. I will point out a lot of very good recruits were not considering usc because of kiffy. Maybe jf walking out on candy was something that made the opportunity there better to Barnett? As I said, I hope he is a VOL on Wednesday. We need every DL recruit we can get.

not many good recruits are considering vandy bc of the new coach. i dont buy any of this barnett stuff. i think its way too late in the game. those guys are just grasping for whatever they can over there bc their class is horrible. full desperation mode

Agree. I think it's way too late. I think maybe the Vandy coaching staff reached out to Derek to maybe try and get him to visit campus or an in home visit with him...Barnett declined, but offered to follow Mason on twitter in return. :)

What's even funnier is their view on how smart they are. They argue that you have to have a 6.2 GPA and make 54 on your ACT test to get into Vandy while Tennessee just requires a 0.5 GPA and a 4 on the ACT to get into school. I worked around several Vandy grads before I retired and none of them impressed me. Most of them were great in bragging about how smart they were and how great Vandy was but were poor in job performance.
