'14 TN RB/DB Daryl Rollins

I agree with many on here. It is a mistake not to take a quick change-up kid like this. How soon coaches forget McCluster and how he made SEC D's look like they were standing in mud and went all NFL on their azzes. If his academic house is in order he has to be a grayshirt like Swafford at least.

Coaches had the kid in camp. With no offer, I would guess they did not see what they needed to see from him. I think their plan was to give him a shot at CB, and he just did not fit the bill.

I haven't seen this guy play...what does he look like compared to Devrin Young as a Sr in HS?

Seriously ... why is this kid a 5.2, 2 star? He's insanely productive and wicked fast. It can't just be size. Several 5-9, 170lb kids are a LOT higher than that. Hell, Corn Elder was a high 4 star last year and he was 5-10 170 (I think).

I don't get it. Does he have other issues?

There is absolutely no deference between Berrios and Rollins. I believe Rollins is a bit tuffer and i know he's faster. Berrios does not even run track. One has to be careful when evaulating talent. Some kids travel the country camping, and some kids sell out for their school and community and win championships aka Daryl Rollins. With that being said, im still not quite sure if either athlete is SEC talent but definitely should be playing at a collegiate level.

There is a reason why no SEC teams or major schools have offered Rollins. What would that reason be?

Interesting first post. They do play different positions and have different styles of game, so its really comparing apples to oranges.

Im only comparing the size of the two athletes, i think we can all agree that they have similar attributes. So you say apples and oranges, tell me what position you think Rollins will play at the next level. Definitely not RB unless your talking DII. But if you place him in the slot, now you may have something. And from watching both athletes in person, i would rather have Rollins than Berrios. I used this comparison only because of the fact that they are very similar in style with vastly different rankings.

Rollins can be a RB at the next level. His height is fine and he is explosive. Hope he succeeds wherever he ends up.

I'm not getting what has ya'll excited over Rollins. I look at him play and think "What a great high school running back", but that's it. Hurd is on another level from Rollins as a running back.

I just hope 4-5 yrs from now, Im not having to explain to my friends why we didn't take him like i have to do about Randall Cobb

This kid is apparently 3 inches shorter than Cobb. 247 has him listed at 5'8", which I'm willing to assume is probably not accurate. I'd like to know his true size.

I think we've got your position clear. You hate him as a rb, and love him as a slot guy, more than Berrios. Got it.
No I would not say hate. I would say best way to utilize his talents that would best help a team. An earlier poster had mentioned the fact that Rollins was just a 2 star, and Berrios being a 4 star is what sparked the interest. One with major offers and one with minor, but same player

All those coaches are wrong. Every single one of them.

Nobody really knows seeing that the kid has never played a college down. Being a Knoxville Kid I really hope he gets a shot at UT, either as a gray shirt with the potential to earn a scholly or walk on with the same opportunity. Obviously the kid can fly but so could Kenny O'Neal and many others. But look at Trindon Holliday in Denver..5'5 and fast as hell. Again I hope one way or another he gets his shot at UT

Every safety, cornerback, WR, and most RBs can run fast. Speed is everywhere. In addition to speed, coaches look for a combination of height and weight, wiggle in their gait, football aptitude, and physicality.

Something or some things from that list of desired traits are missing in the Rollins equation.
