'14 TN RB/DB Daryl Rollins

That's what I'm saying. I'm not saying he's a bad kid, just that Fulton kids have that rep.

That is not going to stop major schools from recruiting him. There are many players who come from far worse schools and situations and yet that does not stop major programs from recruiting their kids.

I'm just trying to find reasons for not offering him. It's obvious you don't think we should and that's fine, but I'm of the opinion that our coaches are missing one here.

Great, but they are not valid.

There are other reasons, but every body seems avoid what they may be.

sometimes coaches dont offer a kid because they believe a kid is maxed out in highschool. coaches like to see a little room for improvement. they might think he doesnt have the frame to add needed weight, or they dont think he can get any better once he makes the jump to college.

im not saying thats what is going on in this case, just making a statement

Come on dude . This kid is a great prospect

I think he is too, but I don't know how to evaluate talent, so I'm gonna trust the guys who do.

If they're not afraid to offer E Mosely, there's gotta be a reason for not offering Rollins, idk what it is but I'm gonna trust Jones. If he gets one, I'll be ecstatic.

I think this is a Jabo Lee type of player. You offer him at the last second if you have the need/space.

He's fast but the more I'm watching him he seems a bit stiff for a smaller guy. He's speed is undeniable but I'm wondering about his style a bit at his size. I wouldn't mind adding a kid like him to the mix. We've taken worse athletes. I would take him ahead of some more popular camp heros(as we call them lol).

so you take a kid like swafford, GRANTED as a grey-shirt, and you won't even look at this kid? to me that makes no sense.

A kid like Swafford who has a pick 6 and a blocked punt return TD against the 2 best teams in the SEC East as a true freshman? Yep, makes no sense.

At camp:

Went through 1 RB drill then Coach Jones pulled him aside. Sent him to DB drills and has been shadowing him ever since.

It would make no sense if they didn't look at him. However, he was shadowed all day by coaches and could not earn an offer. Butch gave him personal attention...what more do you want?

I've got a not so unique idea - let the kid's season and recruiting play out to see what happens. If you know football at all you know that he can help this team. There may be reasons we don't know that explain if Butch passes.

That being said I see many different change-up, quick backs being utilized successfully all over CFB. I see a glaring lack of return men on our roster. We will know by February.

Seems pretty clear to me. If the kid would have shown out in CB drills, he would have got an offer. The coaches saw him at camp, and they passed. It is what it is.

I made a comment on the Scott thread about this. I said I didn't understand the love for Scott when this kid is right here under our nose. They're the same size and Rollins (on paper) is a little faster. Another poster -- don't recall who -- told me to go look at the film for both players side-by-side.

I did. The difference is daylight and dark. Scott has ridiculous moves. You never see it in the Rollins video. I get it.

I'll leave the evaluation to the coaches. :)

Speed is not everything in talent evaluation. Coaches look at their hip flexibility, agility, gait, lateral quickness, etc.

SEC football is full of kids who can run fast. Leonard Scott was the fastest straightline runner in the SEC and yet, he was not a game changer.
