'14 TX DE Dimarya Mixon (UT commit 11/9/13)

And that's the whole point of my posting. I've seen all kinds of incorrect stuff on the net. Some of it may even be mine.

There is a lot of wiggle room.

We signed 21 last year, so we must have at least 29 we can give this year as long as any over 25 are EEs. I don't know how many we had to give the year before, but it always seems like 2 or 3 or 4. Whatever that was can be added to the 29. The main numbers to watch are 25/85.

If I understand it correctly, they don't have to be EE's to be back counted. If we signed 21 last year we can back count 4 regardless of if the are EE's. Im pretty sure about that part. The gray area, I believe, is still the EE's however. This is why......since they will enroll in 2013, they can be back counted to the 2012 class. You can only go back one year with back counting, BUT since technically the EE's enroll next month they could go back to 2012, since its still 1 year.
The guys coming in spring would be 2 years removed so they can only go back to the 2013 class. This is the loop hole that I don't think is black and white.

Good looking prospect who was pretty highly recruited a year ago and signed with Nebraska. Tennessee liked him early in the process this year. He's an active defensive lineman who makes plays and doesn't just occupy space or a gap.

Bobby is struggling. He said Moore caught a pass Saturday... Was North of course. Also Marion walls and during a timeout called Tamika catchings... Tamiqua

Don't pick on Bobby - he's getting old and he's allowed to make a mistake. Can you imagine a UT game without him?

And even at 260+ looks skinny. Like where Vickers was last year. Get this man some weights, immediately!

260 lbs on a 6'3 man is not fat. It is called not being a boy-being a man.

I wasn’t being sarcastic, if that’s the way it sounded. I meant that it looks like he needs some refinement in his arms and shoulders and neck. Looks like he’s got a good frame on him, with room for growth.

Word, that's the way I interpreted your post... That his frame looks like he could be a 300lb guy that is quick

So you think 30 is our limit and it's a hard number? That is possible, but we are still recruiting a number of prospects. That's the whole mystery, I think. Lots of possibilities. Do they know somebody isn't going to make it in? Do fans interpret rules incorrectly?

I can't remember. Is 5 the limit on back counts or is it possible to go higher?

PS: I was laughing when I typed the snarky comment.

It's a chain reaction from previous classes that determines how many we can backcount to the 2013 class. Where that chain reaction starts (2007/8/9/10/11???) is the part that isn't entirely clear to just about anyone.

2007 was a huge class so my guess is none could be back counted from the 2008 class to 2007

so if we knew how many actually signed in 2008 - then from each year out how many were EE and how many signed from each class we should be able to get the number

but since CBJ said he would sign 30 - im just going with that, much less work

SAIP...

Anyone know why Mixon didn't sign a GIA this weekend?

He didn't commit until after he left town, but I am wondering if for some reason Mixon as a late qualifier is not a "counted" player in the 2014 class. Any lawyers out there?
