'15 AL OL Brandon Kennedy

I read that Brandon Kennedy has already taken some grad courses at UA. So apparently he is able to obtain his desired grad degree at UA.

It's still bull****. He should have the choice to continue his degree and football anywhere he likes. The rules are bogus and made to benefit the people who control the money.

He can. He signed with Bama and if he wants to transfer he should be able to after sitting out

UA is not in favor of the NCAA being able to force it to develop players for UT and AU. Nor should AU and UT be in favor of NCAA rules that force them to develop players for competitors that they play against.

It's a 2-way street. Be careful what you wish for.

So he can go anywhere except to any major program in the region he grew up and where his family lives?

Nick Saban is driving the cause of why college players deserve compensation.

The NCAA can't sell itself on an organization that promotes student athletes and success in the classroom and then even when a student completes their degree, the goal of any student, they still aren't rewarded.

Honestly I'm ok with it being a two way street. Yes it may hurt Tennessee in the future but these student athletes need to be able to make the best decisions for them.

Maybe some UT players with degrees would like to transfer from UT to another SEC school.

Saban didn't have a problem going after a grad transfer in Jacob Coker because it was going to benefit his team but when he has players do it it suddenly becomes a problem. Hmm what hypocrite.

Fine.

You're missing the point. This has nothing to do with the schools involved. The system has been flawed for a long time. Lots of seedy rules and rulings should come to light.
The movement needs a catalyst. Maybe this is it. I hope Kennedy sues AL, the SEC, and the NCAA.

Agreed.

Can you name some of the “many schools who are doing it”?

Preferably football since the conversation is about football grad transfers.

No I will not name the school where the coach told me. He didn't name other schools only saying many of the mid majors were doing it in fear of losing guys and that his school was doing it

Believe it or not I don't care

I like the idea of scholarship offers being a 4 year commitment on both sides as long as the athlete follows team rules clearly stated prior to signing and maintains academic eligibility. The limitations for transfer should also be set before the kid signs, and if a school cuts a kid for anything other than violation of team rules or academic issues, they should lose a scholly for a year as well.

Outside of the 4 years (i.e. Graduate school), the school shouldn't be able to have any say whatsoever regarding the remaining eligibility of an athlete.

I dont know why Saban gives a ****. Not like we’re going to beat them

You're taking about one of the most competitive coaches in history. The same guy who can hardly enjoy a national championship for 24 hours before he starts harping to the media about enjoying the accomplishment and not getting too far ahead of themselves for next year...

This really shouldn't surprise anyone.

He's a dick.

This is and always has been the case

That's what I thought. And I guess my point is that they shouldn't change that, but there should be no rules biding either side whatsoever after the 4 year commitment is up (i. e. Graduate school).

If a player completes his undergrad in 2, 3, or 4 years he should be able to transfer anywhere if he has eligibility. He was second string and obviously does not feel he will start next year. How in the world could you blame him for wanting to go somewhere that he might be able to get playing time and have a shot at the NFL? He has earned that right.

I quoted the wrong statement. I was referring to Tidal Surge. Sorry!!!

Yes there is one binding thing and that is of the school offers the graduate program the kid wants. That isn't good for us here

I don't blame them.
I just think he should have considered that when making the choice out of hs. If he made a mistake he can get out of it with sitting out a year

Yeah that's another one of those rules that is not in the best interest of the student athlete. If both sides have met obligations for 4 years, either side should be able to walk away without limitations.
