Maybe some UT players with degrees would like to transfer from UT to another SEC school.

Alabama grad transfer Brandon Kennedy is on the verge of finding a new home. The transfer lacks league approval to move within the conference but multiple sources this morning tell Volquest there is a strong belief the SEC will approve the move for Kennedy. Those same sources indicate Tennessee has emerged as the preferred destination for the former Rivals 4-star. As reported by AL.com, Alabama has tried to block such a move but there is a previous precedent with Georgia landing Maurice Smith from Alabama when Kirby Smart left for Athens. The Crimson Tide attempted to throw up a stop sign to that transfer before the transfer became official when the league office intervened. Kennedy has two years to play no matter where he ends up.
I don't know the legal rules...but in MY OPINION, the school gives the student a scholarship to earn a degree and, with possible redshirt years, the student could be there up to six years. I am guessing as long as he plays, he can take classes possibly earning a Master's if he works hard. With workouts, lifting and practices...it would not be easy to take additional classes to graduate early. I can see blocking someone switching without graduating because they want to leave. They signed on and have an obligation. But if they graduate, I think they have fulfilled their obligations to the university...and should be free to leave. Great players leave early for the Pros all the time...no penalties. It would seem logical only 2nd string or below would be likely to leave for better playing time elsewhere...or if there is some personal reason. But the players are not property of the school. If they held up their end of the bargain I say they are free to leave upon graduation. If they didn't play for some reason, that is the coach's choice or an injury most likely received holding up their end of the bargain.

I read that Brandon Kennedy has already taken some grad courses at UA. So apparently he is able to obtain his desired grad degree at UA.
He's also been granted a transfer release to attend any non-SEC school that's not scheduled to play UA during his remaining playing eligibility.
UA is not in favor of the NCAA being able to force it to develop players for UT and AU. Nor should AU and UT be in favor of the NCAA being able to force them to develop players for competitors that they play against.
It's a 2-way street. Be careful what you wish for.
When a leg humper makes more sense than a gump ⬆️
Im okay with that and understand this goes both ways. Its only fair to the student athlete.
Sorry...the nickname is a play on Salty Dog...not GA. I've been a Vol fan forever...even when I lived in Baltimore my friends & I would drive down for at least one game a year. Rooted for the Vols even when I attended another SEC school in the 70's. We got a dog for a mascot too, you know...
