'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Quarterback Josh Dobbs isn't only working on his own craft; Dobbs, who's routinely been among the last players out of the complex while he gets additional throwing sessions in and seeks to elevate his downfield accuracy, also has been working closely with Sheriron Jones. Jones has been right there with Dobbs, both in the complex and outside of it trying to glean as much information and pointers as possible.

I feel like VN needs a thread where you simply state the last name of the QB that succeeds Dobbs. One day t will be fun to bump.

Love to hear this. It will be interesting to see what Jones can do after two years honing his craft under Dobbs.

I'm too hype for the QB competition Spring 2017.

If Guarantano is as good as advertised, we may never see Jones hit the field as the starting quarterback, unless Dobbs is injured. If Hunter Johnson signs on with the 2017 class, the term embarrassment of riches comes to mind. It is haed to imagine Guarantano, Johnson and Jones in the QB race. I think that puts us in the position to win, no matter who is behind center.

Of the current contenders, the only one that would surprise me is Jennings, and even that wouldn't be a complete shock. Given the options, I just think the coaches will choose someone with a more well-rounded skill set rather than going all Nick Marshall.

If this kid didn't have the potential to be an elite qb, Butch wouldn't have taken him after two other qbs were already enrolled.

Maybe. But a second, or even third QB may be pressed into service in a critical situation at some point during the year. Good to know that if that happens, a talented, well-coached athlete will be there to answer the call and execute the offense. We have lost to our share of 2nd and 3rd team QBs. Time to win with one.

Does Jim Bob Cooter have any eligibility left?

I'll never forget Peyton's first year, how many QBs we had to put in that season.

I went to Pasadena and was there the first time Peyton stepped in to play against UCLA. He almost brought them back for the win. There really wasn't ever gonna be another QB after that. Peyton made the right choice, Helton made the right choice and Brandon Stewart made the only choice he had.

Anyone think this kid would be starting against us this season if he stayed with Florida? As bad as their QBs are he would have a shot.

Coach Mac screwed up big time...waved him on with no effort.

Will Grier was rated the #2 pro style QB in the country and a top 50 recruit. Highly doubt Jones would beat out Grier and Harris as a true Freshman. Plenty of upside with Sheriron though.

I get that beating out Grier would be a lot to ask (mostly because he's been around longer), but beating out Harris couldn't be that difficult. Kid doesn't fit the new system at all.

Grier's got a live arm but that's about it. He couldn't play last year and their QB play was horrid.

I wouldn't say couldn't. Grier was a true Freshman and Muschamp wanted to redshirt him which was the right thing to do. How do you know a live arm is all Grier has since he hasn't played his first game? Are you saying he's not mentally capable? Anyway regardless the question was would Sheriron start at Florida this year. Do you think he would?
