'15 CA QB Sheriron Jones (UT Signee 2/4/15)

The plan was always a RS for WG. His dad wanted him to get bigger and mentally ready for the jump from small ball to SEC.

As for Harris if he fit system neither would Jones.

Harris and Sheriron are not the same type of QB. Common fallacy. SJ is pass first with mobility. Treon's WHAT'S A PASS? on every run. :)

Anyone think this kid would be starting against us this season if he stayed with Florida? As bad as their QBs are he would have a shot.

No. He would be the 2nd string QB who comes in against us with 3mins left in the 4th qtr and scorches us for 200yds passing, 95 rushing, 3 scores and a 1pt miracle win.

At UF. Harris had over 2500 passing his Sr yr.

Reason he was ranked so highly.

Neither are Pro style QBs.

CJM had plenty of feedback on Jones from Roper and his west coast connects.

So they meh Sheriron because he's a "dual-threat"...but offer Guarantano? :w00t:
He needs to fire those connects...they failed him. :)

Sheriron may never even play for us, but that scouting report is cray. :loco:

Not really. Mac wants a pro style QB. Reason he's working Franks and Haskin so hard.

Harris is the only DTQB UF will have under CJM.

I liked Jones as a prospect but for whatever reason(s) staff didnt.

HG I kno it's hard but without drinking the GATORade how do you feel about Coach Mac. Give me your prediction on how yall finish in the east.

McElwain tried to flip DT QB Lamar Jackson from Louisville last year and is also going after DT QB Xavier Gaines now. This whole DT QB category needs to be eliminated imo.

UF isnt after Gaines its his camp that is pushing UF after Vols and Aub took other QBs.

From Scout:

Xavier Gaines, a four-star QB/ATH out of Lakes Wales (Fla.), is a player that's very, very high on the Gators heading into his senior campaign, per his head coach. The 6-foot-4 rising senior had significant interest in Auburn and Tennessee, but both schools received commitments at the quarterback position.

He's obviously a plan B type of kid with the Gators really pursuing Felipe Franks, but it's something I just wanted to drop off. His coach mentioned Notre Dame as well, but he kept going back to the Gators and saying how high they were with Xavier

Oh Feleipe Franks! # 1 pro-style QB prospect in the cla...oh wait?

Ive been impressed with his off the field stuff most. Starting with getting the BullGators to push and open wallets for IPF and complete gut of athletic dorms. A few things rivals have taken advantage of recently. Also got budget for expanding support and quality control staff.

As for on the field Im still not all in on him having success at UF, but he understands the holes in the roster and done a solid job filling gaps.

The OL and QB play will be the key between 6-6 or 8-4 on season.

Makes sense HG. Can't wait to bring the Vols to Gainesville this year and stop the streak. Sometimes it sucks to be this confident but this might be the yr the streak ends. Last time I was this confident was Doofus finally yr. We will see how this turns out

New article on 24/7.

No article but Ryan Bartow tweeted Callahans response to a question on their board....

"Jones has made a good impression on several people within the program with the way he has approached things since he arrived on campus. He has shown a good work ethic and spent as much time as possible with Joshua Dobbs, and he seems to be doing his best to make up for the fact that he arrived in Knoxville almost five months after Quinten Dormady and Jauan Jennings enrolled.

I'm not sure Jones is going to be quite as college-ready as Dormady right out of the gates — Dormady is a pretty sharp passer for a true freshman, and he obviously impressed a lot of people during spring practice — but he's clearly a talented kid. I know a lot of people are eager to see how he does on the practice field during preseason camp. The reality is that Jones probably will need at least a little bit of time to develop, but he's definitely an intriguing player who could be pretty good in the future if he continues to improve."

Franks is a Dual threat quarterback. Still confused by your statement that Harris is the only DTQB Florida will have under McElwain.

Nothing DT about Franks. He's in the mold of Jacoby Brissett. Has good wheels to escape defenders.

Can't 'understand the reason Rivals or 247 has him listed as DT.

6-6 seems ambitious as a low point. Not meaning to disrespect, but I could easily see 4 or 5 wins this year with that roster.

I think people are sleeping on Florida's talent level a bit and their D still has the potential to be the best in the East. Collins runs the exact same multiple 3-4 defense that Muschamp ran and they are returning what is probably the best secondary in the SEC. Front 7 lost a big playmaker in Fowler, but they still have a stout LB core and a solid DL.

Their roster is still chalked full of 4 and 5 star players on both sides of the ball. If McIlwain can get any kind of offense going, I think they could challenge for 3rd place in the East.

Having said that, they are likely going to struggle mightly with a very young OL to start the year. They will probably have a true freshman(Ivey) at LT and a D-1AA transfer starting beside a lot of question marks. Hopefully they will still be a mess when we go to Gainesville and Barnett will break Grier in half.

McIlwain certainly inhereted a much better situation than Butch when he took over.

There is talent around, but that OL and QB is everything. One bad unit can destroy a season. Aske Dooley about defense his final year. A decent OL probably gives the Vols 3 more wins last year. (UGA, FL, Mizzou)

5-7 wins for you, imo

Means we only beat the teams we should.

NMST, Ky, Vandy and FAU are wins.

ECU and SC should be wins but could go either way.

Mizzo, UT, Ga and LSU. We'll pull 1 upset.

Ole Miss and FSU. I'm waiting on word from 'AA and TPD.
