'15 Current Commits/Targets

I'm not sure if I'm posting this on the correct board or not, but here is my list of who I hope we land by NSD to fill out our '15 class (based on 25 total commits & taking into account those that we actually have a shot at):

1. Kahlil MacKenzie DT
2. Drew Richmond OT
3. Tim Settle DT
4. Torrance Gibson QB
5. Ricky DeBerry LB
6. Kyle Phillips DE
7. D.J. Jones DT
8. Van Jefferson WR
9. Quarte Sapp LB
10. Jackson Harris TE
11. Cameron Ordway CB
12. Bryce Love RB
13. Austin Clark OT

This would be one of the top classes in UT history...although it is unlikely we get all these guys, I think it is realistic that we get about half. That would be an outstanding feat by CBJ and company considering where we were just a couple of years ago...feel free to comment.

Well 1 out of 13 thus far isn't so bad...since it is Kahlil. We still have a shot at 4 others on this list plus Tuttle (> Settle).

I like you list. Watched Harris on ESPN at the Opening. Picked MVP TE. Don't understand why we never offered the kid. Now he's committed to Georgia. Some people think he's only a blocking TE but he looked like he had great hands and quick speed at the Opening. I think his high school has been struggling without much of a quarterback.

Because we already have a couple of TEs that have the same skillset at Harris. He brings nothing different by taking him. Kyle Oliver on the other hand brings a different dynamic to the position that we don't have at the moment, unless Neiko shows something since being moved there today.

That guy has 27 posts, I think all 27 are Jackson Harris related posts if that tells you why he's pushing him so hard. :hi:

As a sports writer I've had an opportunity to see a few in-state guys play live. These are my personal reviews.

More hype than skill:
Cameron Ordway
Jackson Harris
Both players are physically gifted, but didn't show me SEC level talent, especially Harris. Ordway does have more potential. Not to down Harris, but i was overly underwhelmed with the Tight end/defensive ends skill set. Size is there, but lacks most everything else is three games i've seen him play.

Solid players:
Kyle Phillips
Jack Jones
Both have good motors will be successful at the next level. Jones epitomizes the role of a solid player, not flashy just consistently executes. Phillips tends to rely more on his athleticism than technique, but is the trend with most high school athletes.

Not SEC caliber (at least not yet):
Taye Davis
Kyle Oliver
Kevin Prather
Carson Shaw
Josh Smith
I don't even remember seeing Shaw or Smith when i watched their teams? Oliver is athletic but very raw. Davis will be a solid mid-major college pick upp IMO.

Star potential:
Jauan Jennings
Have had the opportunity to not only see Jennings play, but also talk to him on a few occasions. This may be biased, but i believe he should be ranked much higher. In just one full year of playing quarterback he progressed at a rate that is unparalleled amongst the athletes i have been able to follow. Jennings will have Tennessee fans saying , "Torrance Gipson who?" mark my words on that. Jennings will be a star.

Awesome job doing this! So helpful.

One thing that might be neat is if you have time to update those commitment dates. Not huge deal though.

I updated them. If I messed any up just let me know.

GBFO!

Just thought I better get on here before the bandwagon fans beat me to it, cause the vols are headed in the right direction! Just gonna take time

BJ Emmons from Morganton,NC got offered a scholly. The heat has picked up on this kid. He is getting offers from every big name school. He visited opening weekend and liked the Vols quite a bit.

Going to watch this kid play tonight against my Red Devils. I will give some udates while I am there. I hope we can slow him down a little.

Just an informal poll question. We have 2 of TN's top 10 recruits. All the rest belong to someone else with one undeclared. Last year, we owned TN. CBJ made a statement that we need to put a fence around the state and keep talent in-state?

-Is anyone concerned &/or frustrated by our lack of ability to keep our top ten 5/4*'s to us?
-Were we not enamored with them, and didn't pursue as much as other schools? They seemed to go everywhere but UT.

Thoughts?
