I still want Rasool. Ton of potential.

Yea, me too. I just can't see how we can take to many more. Their are still so many good players left out there, im kinda sad we can't take 40 this year. This kid for sure looks the part fwiw. Anybody seen his film?

Just tossing it out there. Looking at his film and seeing his shuttle time of 4.37, would it be a reach to see him at 6'4 230-240 playing OLB? Kid looks very quick on film. Maybe with the staff looking at LB possibilities, maybe this kid fit the bill?

Could play the Maggit Role.

sometimes we look at measureables,40 times, height, weight, etc instead of just watching them play...Zach Thomas comes to mind as far as everyone said he was too short,slow,etc...just watch the kids film,he just makes plays, was 3rd team all state as a junior in the deepest talent state, with the best football in the country...

I think his body changes a bunch by the time his time is up at UT considering how young he still is

No we need DEs in a bad way. Hubbs said today that he believes Barnett and Hendrix most likely end up at DT. Said Hendrix reminds him of Turk McBride.

Need DEs. Still a spot for Phillips. Then call it a day.

Butch said "I get on anybody field and hit that itch with that Butch train".

Time to add commit to the thread.

Ford recorded 67 tackles, 17.5 TFLs, and 10 sacks as part of an eight win season that rested on a strong defensive effort from the Indians...

"Individually I felt like I got better at my craft and I learned a lot of new things," said Ford. "I gained a lot of experience. As a team we made it farther than any other East Bay team so that's a big accomplishment."

"I am a pass rush player and I'm good at containing the quarterback and making sure they don't have a lot of time to get the pass off," said Ford.

:good!:

This is what I am thinking. Give him a shot at it and see - if not he stays with a hand down all the time a WDE. Love this commit. Chris Walker type size and speed guy IMO.

I'm probably going to choke on my assessment of Ford several years from now, but here we go.

He looks very stiff and doesn't have an overly athletic movement about him. It almost looks like he is thinking about what he needs to do before he does it. I don't know his background, but I would guess he's new to the sport and very raw. His indecisiveness doesn't allow him to make crushing tackles, but in turn results in arm tackles due to being a step out of position.

The bright spot for me was that he looked better in his fundamentals in some of the film as opposed to the others. So, it makes me believe he was getting better at his craft and playing faster as his junior year progressed.

He does have a great frame for the position. My opinion is that he redshirts, has weight added to him, and plays tackle or SDE. I don't believe he is a speed rush end in college or athletic enough to play line backer.

First thing I notice from his film, this guy already has a mean natural inside/outside swim move. Just wait till he adds strength and learns more technique. He's gonna cause a lot of problems on the edge with his quickness.

You really lost me with moving him to tackle. He is a speed rusher.

And not that it really matters but Ford is the next weakside defensive end to be bumped to a 4* according to rivals position rankings.

I agree on the swim move, but it looked like that was the only move he had. I guess due to the competition he's playing he can get away with it every down. The old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it pertains here greatly. But in college that won't always work. I want to see him bull rush through the defender once.

Like I said I'm probably way off with my opinion and will be eating my words in a couple years.

But I would like to say that he wants to be a volunteer and Jones wants him too, so I'm stoked to have him. Best of luck Marques.

Yeah, your probably right on the tackle thing. He would have to add 40 to 50 pounds and that's probably not feasible.

But my concern with the speed rush thing is all the stutters and choppy steps he takes. He slows his advance due to not playing instinctively. He probably will get a lot more practice and his senior year and keep advancing.

But like I said Butch Jones like him, so what I think means squat.

You're right. It's probably at least two years before he is counted on to play any meaningful snaps. That's a lot of time to become more instinctive.
