So I just spoke with JC Shurburtt from 247 concerning Sheriron Jones as well as Deondre Francois. He said he likes both recruits and both would fit very well in our offense. He said we have a much better shot at landing Jones. I asked how he thought Dormady and Jennings would react to this, since they would both be on campus if it were to come to fruition. He said, well you can move Jennings to safety where he belongs. He said there is a good chance that Jones ends up on The Hill. TIFWIW. :hi:

This is what we have next year and why you take another QB in addition to Dormady and Jennings. Assuming Peterman transfers, that basically leaves us with only Dobbs.

13 Patrick Ashford QB SO 6-0/213 Morristown, TN ()
11 Joshua Dobbs QB SO 6-3/216 Alpharetta, GA (Alpharetta)

I personally like Jones better. He is several inches taller and a much better passer. Jones is pass first then take off if he has too. Either would be a great addition but personal preference is Jones because of height and being the better passer right now.

Ashford has a qbr of like 650.0 so I think we should stop worrying about the future at that position. The future is bright!

Definitely agree, especially about Jennings. Thinking safety is where he ends up after getting a. "SHOT" at QB. Really need to add one with Nate sounding like he will transfer.

I'd have to disagree about Jones being the better passer. Francois can make all the throws and has great touch. He looks like he has a lot more zip on his throws too. I wonder who has the better arm between him and Dormady.

JC believes Dormady has a great arm and can run enough to be successful at Tennessee. He said Jones runs a little better than Francois, but francois is the better passer by a little. Basically Jones and francois are interchangeable for our purposes. :hi:

That's about how I see them as well.

Dormady is the more polished passer with all the measurables. Lacks the big play run threat but can run enough to pick up the 4-7 yards on the ground. He makes up for it with his big play ability throwing.

Jennings is a project that will need time. Best Athlete of the 4. Dangerous with his legs and improving with his arm. High Ceiling but also the lowest floor at QB. Leader mentality.

Jones is a good run/pass mix. I like his touch on throws. He has the feel of a leader as well.

Francois has tons of upside. I love his arm. He can run. His issue has been accuracy. I am curious to know how much Chris Weinke coaching him this year has helped. If he fixes that part of his game then Look Out

Dormady is supposed to have one of the better arms. And some worry too much about Dormady and running but he had the same amout of rushing yards as Francois and way more passing yards,. I just like that Jones was quoted as saying he is a passer firrst and prefers slinging it around over running it. I honestly don't know much about Francois just glanced over his stats and had 263 yards rushing and was 79-149 passing. But I know we can't judge off HS stats either.

We can't go wrong with either Jones or Francois. Still like Dormady over them both but would love to add one and let them battle it out. We need a guy who is a better passer than a runner, because he will be throwing more than he will be running anyway.

Anyone saying we dont need 3 QBs is not thinking clearly b/c if QD or the 3rd Qb beat out JJ, JJ is going to safety or xfering. Either of which leaves us with 2 scholly underclassman Qbs and only AK for '16, which if im not mistaken thinks he will be only Qb for his class. A 3rd Qb is a MUST!!!!

Or, you know. We get 2 QB's and neither transfer. Then we use the 3rd scholly for another position (OL or LB) that won't need to transfer either.

And if we need 2 qb's next class, then take 2.

But if we get 3 QB's this class, one is almost certainly guaranteed to transfer, thus, making it relatively pointless.

But, we end up with a better QB if we take 3. The least of the 3 will be the one transferring. A great QB can cover for alot of other positions
