Just to clarify, I do think we are #1 for TG, and I do think that CBJ told TG he was our #1. But think about when that was said. That was before JJ or QD committed. In fact, that was before I was even aware QD was a human being.

Sarcasm can be hard to read online. I personally think it was. We can interpret either way. We don't know for sure until he clarifies. The other statements are definitely not sarcasm. I don't think he is the number 1 target now either. We have more pressing needs. That doesn't mean we have given up or don't lead for him though.

I know for sure that Callahan said we are still in it and have a good chance to land Gibson. People say listen to him but are ignoring what he says when it doesn't fit their agenda.

Yes he did but that quote shows he is speculating on that. Maybe he found out more because today he said we would be thrilled to get Gibson and have a great shot. He is not at the very top of the board now which is understandable with 2 qbs already. We still want him and are recruiting him according to RC though.

I don't even feel like getting into this mess tonight so all I'm going to say is that Kahlil McKenzie thought that the idea that Tennessee isn't recruiting Gibson anymore is absolutely hilarious. That leads me to believe Gibson was being sarcastic about what he was saying.

I know, I know....McKenzie has no idea who CBJ is or isn't recruiting.

Wrong. All you're doing is posting conjecture to stir up crap about Gibson in his own thread. You guys are pathetic. Hubbs and these other guys aren't coaches. They don't know what CBJ is going to do. So I take what they say with a grain of salt. I don't care what anybody says on twitter because it is a joke. Until Gibson either signs somewhere else, commits to us or CBJ comes out and says something about backing off of Gibson then everyone should believe he is still being recruited hard.

As soon as Hubbs, Matthews and Callahan are hired on as coaches on CBJ staff then their opinions have merit. Until then their opinions are just that and nothing else. People get upset with you guys because you come into Gibson's thread to intentionally post negative things. Everybody gets it, you and the three stooges don't want TG on the team and don't think he is a good QB. That is fine. But why do you have to bring it up in his thread constantly?

There you go using recruits tweeting one another as the your basis for your argument. Make that uncommitted recruits tweeting.

Take on the other hand, the unofficial "official" guys like Hubbs, Callhan, and Doug Mathews making statements that fly in the face of your twtitterverse. Hubbs, Callahan, and Mathews are ultra-connected in the UTAD and coaching staff. It is njt always why they say, but how they say it and what they don't say, that gives you a nice picture of what is going on.

When I take what Hubbs, Callahan, Matthews, and TG himself said, yes, I can form a reasonable opinion on where things stand. I don't so much look for any possible little bit saying otherwise so I have something to hang onto. I tend to look at the larger picture and when doing so, I feel confident in my opinion of where things are.

And that's with me not even really considering I expected it to play out this way for sometime. :dunno:

Paraphrasing Hubbs short comment from yesterday on VQ….he thinks that UT is recruiting him, but UT is not his favorite at this time. He also said that Dormady committing early and in the house has changed things with UT at QB. He also said that Gibson's 5 days on campus, provided both the staff and Gibson a good idea if they are a fit for one another.

Brent communicated a lot with what he did not say in this message, based on how the original poster addressed the question about TG.

You are ignoring completely what Callahan said today. He says we are still recruiting Gibson, have a good shot and the numbers will be worked out if Gibson comes.

How does any of that add up to your narrative of us not recruiting Gibson anymore and can't afford to take him due to numbers?

I mean if he were to drop UT to 3rd and it was AU, Miami, then UT, just how many Miami twitter followers would he gain? I mean if they get 2200 to a home game, would it be safe to say 27 new twitter followers?

Losing 9,000 UT fans to gain 27 Cane fans IMO is just not something TG would risk at this point. JMO, TIFWIW.

I have not actually said UT would not continue to recruit him. Could that be the case shortly? I think so. For now, I think UT is at least still contacting him occasionally. JMO

It is quite clear these kids feed very much off how many followers they can get/keep. Anyone who has followed TGs recruitment knows as soon as he commits elsewhere his twitter #'s will drop like the Gibsonites morale the second the Hubbs/Callahan quotes dropped yesterday. It will be ugly.

I was really talking to Tux. He thinks he is some kind of recruiting Rosetta Stone that can interpret what the experts mean when they are saying something completely different than what he thinks.

Can we just change the thread title to athlete. Regardless of whether or not he comes here I think we can give him a little bit more respect than the smart ass title that's there now.
