A not-at-all-unlikely scenario is that next year, we only have 1 returning QB (would will be eligible for the draft if he has a big year in 2015). Consider that one of Jennings or Gibson could be moved by the end of the year and we're looking like we need 1-2 more QBs for 2016.

You take 3 in 2015 class and you likely get none in the 2016 class.

"Hearing that Gibson is a take as an ATH but not as a QB for the Vols and the kid thinks he's Joe Montana so I don't see this ever happening. We've had many questions about whether or not he can be a quarterback in any offense that resembles pro style in any way and we don't think he can so while Gibson may tell people the Vols are all over him, it's not for QB."

"Oh, and he likes attention quite a bit in case you didn't notice."

Here's the thing...... we dont run a pro style

That's a worst case scenario for which there is still a workable plan. I think you get the best football players now, and worry 2016 next year. If anybody flops at QB in one year then there's no reason we can't get a 16' QB.

You have to consider the timeline. Our 2014 class is just now getting into the grove this year. 2015 QB recruiting is just about done as most of the better targets are already committed. IMO it would too late to get a 2016 guy IF JJ, TG(if they took him at QB), either or did not pan out. I just can't see the coaches taking JJ and TG and then moving one or both before the season kicks off.

Yes, I have stated this many times.

Do you know what CBJ is telling him? All we hear is what this kid tells others and it does not jive with what all of the other analysts are hearing or insiders are being told.

There are committed recruit who have stated that Tennessee coaches have communicated with them that they will be the only QBs signed in this class. That same information has been passed onto analysts and other siders.

The kid is a fantastic athlete, but he will not be signed as QB not tried out at QB by the Vols.

See...this is the thing....NO ONE knows what CBJ is telling these recruits except the recruits and Jones himself. So, how about you jump down off your high horse and stop acting like you know. You don't know ****. You never have and never will.

I still say it's a risk worth taking. I think the 16'ers will be able to see the high possibility of a spot opening up.

That's why I think he will end up at a place like AU if he is set on being a QB.
And its a shame if he does... cause i dont think this offense will truly take off untill we use a dual threat... you cant run a read option with a pro style qb, case in point, the 2013 tennessee volunteer offense..

Prior to NSD, there is nothing...at all...deterministic about recruiting. To say TG is a take because of talent without regard to the intangibles, or to say that TG is not a take because of current commits or numbers or perceptions of the intangibles, is to show such a profound ignorance of what can and might happen between now and NSD, and it boggles my mind how stupid this whole thread has become.

I'm not one to call folks out...but let me break it down for you. If you a) 100% believe we will take TG because of talent, or b) 100% believe we won't take him due to numbers or existing commits...you are ignorant. Yes, I know I just pissed off many folks in this thread. I'm sorry, but its true. There are simply too many variables to make any of those absolute assertions, and even the coaching staff cannot make that call at this point. From their perspective he might be a take now and not in 15 minutes...and that might reverse next week...stuff changes. If Butch is talking to TG on the phone, he's recruiting him. Whether or not Butch accepts his commitment when and if offered, only Butch knows, and his feelings on it this minute may or may not be the same when and if it happens. Is that so #$%^# hard to see?!?

The only thing that can be said with absolute certainty is that TG is a talented ball player that appears to favor UT at the moment, and may or may not have a place here when the ink is dry. Could we please...please...please...drop the endless arguments and try to focus on real information as it becomes available. I for one enjoy reading new quotes and such, but the constant circular argument is the most infantile thing I have ever witnessed on a forum.

Deaf ears, unfortunately.

We did not get 1 in 2014(a class of 32 signees) after taking 2 in 2013. Yes, it happens. Taking 3 IMO obviously would set us up to miss in 2016.

If we take 3, I have a strong feeling that the staff will be letting their 2016 QB targets know that atleast 1 (2 if QD really shows out) will not be at QB by the time the 2016 QB starts competing for PT. And with how these kids have had faith in Butch, we'll be just fine.

If we take him we take him if we don't we don't if he wanted to commit and start recruiting for us like other commits I think a lot of guys would want to play with him but I wouldn't trust him to much till he signed I also don't believe one player makes or breaks a team I also think he would need to be prepared to play wr if he gets beat out

And I was struck by how fast the deaf proceeded to make absolute statements that cannot possibly be known. Makes me wonder if is arrogance or ignorance, or a nice combination of the two. My money is on the combo.

FWIW there are quotes and news threads for people who hate speculative debates and conversation. Just sayin'

Debates are fine. It's the same illogical arguments...over and over and over...that are frustrating. Willful stupidity. I'd imagine that Congress is more functional than this thread.

Honestly, I just think it is an attempt to defend one's way of thinking, but a lot of it comes off as really childish and very irrelevant.

Yet you seem a more than willful participant. :stinker2:

And then there'should butchna, who is just here to stir up as much you-know-what as possible between breakfast and midnight snack. :)

Public debate by it's very nature, particularly concerning undeterminable outcomes, is one big illogical argument. Willfully stupid? Probably, but it does carry a certain entertainment value as evidenced by the volume of clicks onto this thread. Hard news is hard to come by and what news we get often contradicts the last. I guess what I'm trying to say is abandon all hope ye who enter.
