'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

When I saw the 247 report that he was playing WR, I knew this thread would be blowing up. Some people probably aren't around to read it because their heads exploded.

It's been known for days that he would compete in the WR events at The Opening. He also took part in the Elite 11 as a QB.

So why can't Gibson just go to a school redshirt a year, maybe sit a year or two and work to improve before playing quarterback?

The hate blinds some people on here from seeing reality. This is an absolute possibility if he is adamant about playing QB (which he isn't as his actions at The Opening have shown).

This is from a few days ago, but worth having a little look.

In a video interview from "The Opening", he was asked if there are any players he would like to play with in college. He replied that he has several friends he'd like to play with, but wanted to keep it quiet. He went on to say that he would like to play with Kahlil McKenzie. I wonder if those unnamed players could be Josh Malone, Dillon Bates, and TK2? If so, he's more than likely a Vol.
Well then TG is trolling someone because he hasn't been quite about who he wants to play with at UT, at all. Its obvious TG just wants the attention and you can't trust anyone who will do or say anything to get people to notice them.

I trust what the people close to the coaches, who care about their reputations, more than someone who will say anything to get an interview. You notice the ones claiming TG is a take at QB are the ones that are getting it straight from TG and most of ones saying he is not is get it from the staff. The fact he is getting moved to WR at camps and the Openning shows he may not be as great a QB as some hope.

I think TG wants to be a Vol but I don't think things are as perfectly laid out as some want to believe. If CBJ wanted him as a QB and TG loved everything he was hearing from the staff he would already be committed and not said he still wanted to wait until he visits the other staffs and schools. Players visit other schools all the time committed.

You subscribe to the 16 open spots theory? Ha, Butch himself said a full class this round. We'll have room.

Some people think that every player who commits will absolutely stay. They will not believe that we will lose guys to grade issue, flips and the coaches telling guys to go elsewhere. It happens every year.

Show one instance where a (Tennessee) coach has said, to anyone, that TG is not being recruited as a QB.

TG isn't close enough to the coaches for you? He talks to them every single day.

My thoughts: If he comes on board, I'm willing to bet he gets a shot at QB. If he doesn't impress Butch and Co., he moves to another position (likely WR) and Jennings stays at QB. If he comes in and impresses the coaches, he stays at QB and Jennings moves to Defense. In either scenario, the team is better off...and that's what I think the staff is looking to do. Upgrade the team with elite athletes.

That's what I am thinking. I mean wouldn't it be a win win scenario for us? If Gibson beats JJ out at QB then JJ moves to defense and we get a stud S. If JJ is the better QB then. Gibson moves to WR and we get another stud WR. I for one, cannot see any downside.

I didn't say the coaches were doing interviews saying he wasn't. I said the experts/insiders that talk to the staff are. Most of the quotes/comments on here in favor of TG being signed as a QB are straight from TG's mouth or from people repeating what he told them.

Not when he's talking about himself. The coaches could be telling him what he wants to hear, he could be exaggerating what they told him, or just saying things for attention. It has already been pointed out how close he is to players committed or favoring and you can't chance running him off by telling him something he doesn't want to hear. Coaches talk to recruits all the time that are not a take at the moment. I think the coaches would take him as an athlete but that doesn't mean he would sign or not leave when he isn't getting to play QB.

Everyone has their opinion. I know people closer to the source seem more reliable but they aren't always right. They are guessing like us but they get a little more info. Just let him live his life and if he goes here great I'm behind him 100% but if not then good luck else where.

The people that bash players apparently have "sources close to the program" that get information from the coaching staff. Which is interesting seeing how no one in the AD can speak about recruits or recruiting. But they'd rather trust those "sources" instead of the guy that's actually able to talk about his experience with a certain coach or school.

This place would go bonkers, if when Kahlil announces, TG is sitting next to him and decides to announce after him by grabbing the UT bucket hat from him. I know it won't happen, but I think the server would violently explode if it did.

fyp

If that happened some people, I won't name any names, would be so upset they would need a whole box of Kleenex and a bottle of tums :)

RT @InTheBleachers: Watching George Campbell give WR pointers to Torrance Gibson was a pretty nice moment.

Soooo..... TG is playing a little WR at The Opening???

That was always the plan. TG did not qualify at any of the elite 11 events, they just tossed him in there because he was going to be there at the Opening as an ATH. Even though they let him compete with the other QBs, he could not be "ranked" with the as he did not earn the invite. Once the elite 11 was over, he was always going to play WR once the 7on7 started. They have said TG at QB in 7on7 is not pretty at all. He struggles a lot.

If you don't believe him...just ask him. :p

So TG went up against other QBs at the biggest QB camp at the country to try and improve? Wasn't one of your biggest gripes about him was he was scared to throw at camps?
