Tennessee head coach Butch Jones was able to make it out of Atlanta last night and was able to get into South Florida this morning to see several top 2015 prospects for the Vols including quarterback Torrance Gibson and wide receiver Calvin Ridley.

Funny thing is we won our only modern era title with a dual threat QB. Works pretty good in college IMO.

Tee was mobile but I'm not sure I'd call him Dual-Threat.

And the guy who said Tee had no talent at WR clearly wasn't paying attention in '98. Price, Wilson, and Copeland were all very good WRs.

Stallworth redshirted in 98.

Man... To have the depth to be able to redshirt a talent like Stallworth... Wow

I hope butch gets in touch with Dante to speak to the team about decision making.

Please don't let this conversation digress...

Bryson out of the backfield caught some great passes as well. The was an average runner, but he was a good passer on the run.

Somebody cue up the USCe game when Tee broke the completion record.. He was pocket and had the ability to run if he needed to.. The system fellas..

Tee averaged less than 25 yards a game rushing in 1998. We did not need a QB running all over the field to win in 1998, and we don't need it now to win in this offense.

Yea, but when he needed to run, he ran with authority. He had the ideal combination of skills for a QB.

I know I'm going to get flamed, but I think Peerless is a little overrated. Not saying he wasn't outstanding, but for all of the big plays he made, he struggled sometimes with the routine plays.

Even with Peerless, look at who else Tee had to throw to. Ced was good, but he was only a Soph on the 98 team. Copeland regressed over the course of his career. David Martin was a non-factor at that point. The TEs were Eric Diogu and John Finlayson.

I stand by my statement.

I remember Peyton's senior year, Jack Frost and Nebraska were murking us and T came in late in the game. He had a long run, helmet got knocked off IIRC. Gave us a little preview of what would be one of the best years ever.

GTFO peerless was my favorite receiver of all time had he not went to the bills would of been great in the NFL

98 was a pro style offense and now we run a read option. So yes you do need a mobile qb to effectively execute the offense.

He was good with the Bills too. He benefitted from having Moulds on the opposite side. He struggled as the #1 WR in ATL.

The Falcons gave up a 1st Rd. pick to get him, too. That was an all-timer of a bad trade.

Peerless was a great player for UT in 98, but I think his career has gotten romanticized over time because of the games he had in the Fiesta Bowl and the SECCG.

Agreed, and to top it off with my most favorite si cover ever. " priceless".

I'm not as familiar with a lot of 15 recruits yet like some of you are so sorry if this has been discussed at length bc I haven't read this entire thread, but why is this kid considered an Ohio St lock this early in the process?

I watched the first few mins of his highlights. Geez....can you imagine having an explosive running threat at qb like him along with all the weapons we'll have at rb, wr, & te lol. Seriously, who could stop that?

Meyer offered TG as a 9th grader. The fla sites say he'll commit to TOSU once family signs off after visit.

He's been enamored with Urban Meyer since he was at Florida, he's been repping Ohio State gear for the past couple years, he knows Braxton Miller is gone after this year, and he can walk right into the starting role, and there must be some behind the scenes things leading him there, because it's rare for the 3 Florida schools and Ohio State to all agree that an elite recruit is going to the same place.

But all I've heard for the past 2-3 years was how he was a lock to Ohio State. What a waste, I hope he freezes his buckeyes off
