fwiw Woody Wommack showed up on Volquest shortly after Paul's statement to say "I don't think Tennessee is trending with abernathy."

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Wommack is one of the worst "analyst" on any of the recruiting sites and almost appears to have an anti-UT agenda at times. He's the guy that called Josh Malone a lock to every school he visited and constantly said he wouldn't end up at UT.

Yeah I would go with PFort or Hubbs' info over Woody's every day of the week. I think someone said OSU has a bunch of DB commitments, so it sure seems like we might be in the driver's seat.

I say we Take both Micah and Martin-
King Tut, Richmond if he wants I'm or another OL-.
LB or Phillips

I think they end up taking about 6 more, maybe 7.
Right now I'll go with:

WR - Jefferson
OL - Boulware (Miss out on Richmond)
DT - Tuttle
DE - Walker (Miss out on Phillips)
LB - Sapp
CB - Abernathy
CB - Amadi / Martin

I know it's not his thread, but I have a hard time seeing this staff not land both Richmond and Phillips, especially Richmond. There are a lot of things going in UT's favor with Richmond other than the fact that he attends MUS and probably has a lot of random Ole Miss folks in his ear. This class needs a good OT, and he's in-state. Moreover, I'm going to take the approach that this staff will get the in-state talent they want (excluding exceptions like Bryce Mathews) until proven wrong.

I'm not sure on Phillips. I feel like he was feeling UT early in the year and early in the summer, but the longer he remains uncommitted and the more he shows his abilities to other schools, the more other schools are honestly getting in the mix.

I dont post often, but I would prefer to take Amadi and Martin if the staff is really going to grab two more CB's. I grew up playing with Ugo's older brother. Our coach throughout our "little league" careers was.... Patrick Aberanthy. Ugo's entire family came through this same program (even the sisters were cheerleaders) lol. of course there's the fact that Amadi and Martin come from the same HS. I like Abernathy (Micah) as well. He's a stud and i could certainly understand the staff taking him instead. But i just feel that the connection tht Ugo has with the other highly rated prospects in the area is just another bonus in taking him, but i just dont think that there is a big enough gap in skill between the two to just take abernathy with no questions asked. Just my 2 cents. lol

This is exactly what I'm thinking, but if we land Abernathy, and Martin goes elsewhere, we don't take Ugo. Staff been on him hard recently?; I think Duke Shelley is just as good as Ugo and we weren't ready to take his commitment.
I think it's 20%; chance we get Phillips, just don't see it happen...
And 50/50 on Richmond, love to get him and lock up one of the LT/R for 4 years.

And I was thinking we might get Olenga (spelling?) Close to signing day if we couldn't land one of the top guys left on our DE/Rush End specialists. Apparently we can keep Olenga dangling for awhile.

I need to look into Walker and Taylor more, considering they're realistic options right now

I agree that the Vols will take commits from another 6 or 7. However, my list is a bit different. Along with Abernathy, I expect UT to land...
Richmond
Phillips
Tuttle
Sapp
Martin (or another DB)
Jefferson

IMO, the odds are much more in UT's favor for the first two than some are projecting.

Newsome
Love

You really think we get Love? Are you thinking we cut Rocky loose, he decommits or we take AK, Rocky, and Love??

I hope we keep Rocky, he is underrated. He is the perfect style back to go with the other guys we have. Has some good speed and skrong as an Ox. Seems to have great vision, footwork and I believe he plays against good competition. I could be wrong about the competition but I really like Rocky's skillset and Frame to be our bruiser RB.

"There are several important announcements scheduled over the next few months for Vol targets and the first one likely up is Atlanta cornerback Micah Abernathy. Abernathy has plans to announce before his first game and as we've said now for several weeks this is a Tennessee-Ohio State battle and we continue to hear that Abernathy is leaning towards the Vols at this point.

Ohio State is continuing to battle there, but we're told the family likes the idea of him playing under Jones who they've known for some time and are fond of. The family likes Ohio State as well, but right now it looks like Tennessee is the team to beat according to several close to the situation."
