I spoke with Abernathy for about 15 min. before the game as he was going into the stadium on a golf cart. I did my best recruiting job. He seemed to be buying my pitch, albeit as a fan, but that was BEFORE the game.

His mom said Butch is her favorite. That bodes well I think.

I told him one of our starting CBs is a walk-on and Sutton will probably go pro after next year. I also told his mom that Butch was going to have us ahead of UGA and UF by 2016 when we play in the biggest football game (attendance) in history @ Bristol.

I feel like I did pretty well. Probably not on Thig's level.

First, I was actually right about the Butch thing. Second, why would a kid believe a coach's lie that nobody can really know can happen. Promising a kid to start is false hope. It's basically faith that the coach knows about the future.

I hope this doesn't come out as negative but if he commits, does it hurt our chances with Martin? I would be happy with either or both. Just curious.

I don't think Abernathy committing will impact Martin. I believe the commitment list is still in flux and, without speculating as to who may move on, UT will probably find a way to have both on the team. From what I've read, I think Abernathy and Martin are the top two CBs on CBJ's board.

Miller visiting other schools indicates IMO he won't be in the class and we have two CB spots open right now.
