'15 GA CB Micah Abernathy (UT Signee 2/4/15)

It's certainly a valid concern based off what we've witnessed so far.

Agreed but offensive talent takes longer toe envelop then defensive in certain positions. Personally OLine is harder to adjust to than Dline and other examples. This is why you can never have too many good olinemen and Runningbacks IMO. Realize it's my opinion and I believe jancek is a much better coach than Bajakian.

Update from Fort

He said he felt very comfortable around Tennessee's coaches and players. He's actually known the Berry brothers since they were all in elementary school and ran track together.

As of right now his plan is to announce either at the end of this week or early next week and he should just have something finalized by later this week.

From talking to him I definitely got the vibe he and his family felt very comfortable in Knoxville and I think that's a big deal. I'll have the full story later tonight.

When not only the recruit feels comfortable with the staff but the family does also....that's huge.

This one is over

We MUST sign an offensive tackle considering Blair can't seem to get it together. I understand we are crippled by our youth, but we have to find a solution to our offensive line woes.

While I agree with you 100%, losing top TN recruits to Ole Miss is not good long term. They already took Richmond from us, and they lead for Gooden next year. CBJ dropped the ball on Richmond by putting all his chips on getting him and slow balling other talented prospects, especially when you consider our o-line state right now. A goal for us going forward should be this, if there are 10 SEC worthy TN prospects in a class, we should be landing 7 of them. In 2014 we did this, in 2015 we have not. We just can't afford to lose anymore Richmond like prospects unless they are legacy players to another school. If we want to be great again we must lock down our state. TN players should be the ones leading the charge of what it means to represent the power T. TKJR, Vic, Gaulden, Malone, Barnett, and Hurd all have done this for the 2014 class, and that close tie to UT will make a huge difference when these guys are leaders of our team in a few years.

That's understandable, but it's the nature of the beast. We're going to lose some guys we want. We do it as well. If we get Abernathy, that's two guys (him and Preston Williams) that Georgia really wanted. Look at what we're doing to North Carolina. How 'bout VT with Darrell Taylor? We'll steal some other "home state" talent and people will do it to us. In the future, though, I'd like to see us be able to keep all our guys -- or at least the ones we're recruiting heavily -- in Knoxville. But it's not always going to work out. In West Tennessee we're competing with Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Arkansas, and Alabama.

If they don't want to be Vols, then so be it.

It seems Butch is the big factor here with his brother playing for him in Cinci. I guess they think he is a good coach. Hopefully they do not spend time around the football forum or they may change their minds.

P Fort is basically saying Abernathy is a Vol lock.

"The defense played great. They just couldn't get the job done in the end," Abernathy explained. "The defense played amazing, the calls were amazing, they were making plays, especially Cam Sutton. He's clearly one of the best defensive backs right now."

"The defense played great and I'm proud of those guys for that even though Tennessee took a loss. But, I will play on the defensive side of the ball so I was amped up to know the philosophy of Tennessee's defense is working right and they are just missing a couple of pieces."

"I know the guys at Buford because we're not that far from them. I know Evan and Elliot Berry because I have been running track with them since elementary school," Abernathy said. "I know Brian Randolph from church and I know a couple more people on the team. I've just been using them as reliable sources of information to make a good decision."
