If a coach wants to keep a kid academically eligible he can.

But I will give him credit for getting him to UT.

My bet is that Butch would have had cp for 2 years and he would have been a top 15 pick.

1. He only got him by getting jobs for Hutcheson guys.
2. He had nothing to do with the complex besides pissing everyone off involved in the design and completion of it.

Dude was an asshat who had no business working at the college level.

The VFL program was Inky Johnson's idea, and he wanted to be the director of it. Dooley took the idea and made Antone Davis the director.

Dooley took the idea and made Andre Lott the director. Then he let Lott go and made Davis the director.

Sutton was criminally underrated and more a product of luck than anything. Had he been ranked appropriately he would have gone to another SEC school

I doubt the coaches offer based on a recruiting services ranking. It was probably the other way around, the coaches missed and the services rated him based on that.

Not the case. Kid wanted to be a Vol. He looked hard at Auburn (which had out recruited us badly over the last several years, until the '14 class) but knew UT was the place for him.

The only correct thing above was that he was criminally underrated

He is the worst football coach in UT history. I think his micromanagement was one area where if you're spending 40+ million, I want you to piss some people off to make it as close to perfect as possible. He got CP and I don't care how.

I consider Vereen and Sutton both Butch guys. If he didn't want them, he would have pulled their offers. It happened to others. This was all covered on NSD this year, if ya'll remember - Jones didn't take anyone he didn't want/didn't reach on any spots in '13 specifically so he could load up in '14.

Sutton and Vereen committed to a university, not a coach. Skipper committed to a great o-line coach and followed him to another university.

Iirc he never heard from the new staff. Sounds like a don't want to me.

To be fair they probably didn't see the athleticism to play T in him and thought he was huge to be a G. He's working well at G as we all know in Arkansas

Maybe so, I didn't spend a whole lot of time in his thread amongst all the coaching search/Von Bell hubbub. Would have been nice to have some more upcoming quality depth on the OL, that's for sure.
