'15 GA OLB Quarte Sapp (UT Signee 2/4/15)

“They’re still high on my list, and I have a good relationship with their coaching staff,” Sapp said. “I’m still trying to narrow down my decision and make sure I make the right decision. When I commit, that’s going to be it for me. I don’t want to commit and then recommit.”

I hope he is a Vol, but even if he isn't, you have to respect the kid. He seems to be going about it the right way.

I was hoping this was bumped because he was going to commit today to make up for the DR loss.

Alas my hopes are dashed again.

With Cortez McDowell's move to Will, by my estimation we'll have solid depth at OLB, including:

- Jalen Reeves-Maybin - So.
- Dillon Bates - Fr.
- Elliott Berry - Fr.
- Cortez McDowell - Fr.
- Austin Smith (Committed)

Could it be that coaches simply backed off here and are looking to fill other more pressing needs at different positions?

Seems plausible.

Seems plausible.

I don't know why they would back off. Cortez has never
Played the position and Berry does not have much experience there either so I would want to recruit kids who already play the position ya know. Maybe that's just me.

It was preordained on here that Cortez and TKJr were set at linebacker...he probably doesn't want to make the jump to DE.

I see your point. Other than JRM no one on that list has played significant snaps, but the potential is there.

We still in the mix? He's started off having a great season against quality opponents

I have a feeling TN fills it's last LB spot in this class before Sapp makes a decision with someone like a Kam Miles. Sapp's a nice prospect but probably not the type of guy where you turn down another quality LB if he wants to jump on board.

I thought Sapp was committing like a month ago

He was supposed to. Family wanted him to but he backed off that. I don't think he really wants to go to TN. Apparently he's waiting on a certain school (FSU?) even though it doesn't seem they have him anywhere on there LB board.

If in fact we're looking to take another LB, I'm not sure we have a viable candidate that would project as high as Sapp. DeBerry would be a great take, but I'm not sure we'd get a commitment from him. If Deberry doesn't pull the trigger soon, I'd be more than willing to wait on Sapp (again assuming another LB is desired)
