Quarte Sapp continues to be a situation that's hard to read. He's had the Vols at or near the top of his list for months now but, despite his family wanting him to, he has yet to pull the trigger. He's talked about visiting other schools this season so it remains to be seen just exactly what his plan is. Nevertheless, if he makes it one campus Saturday it's another step in the right direction for the Vols.

Says UT is in his top 2 schools. Said he can really see himself fitting in the defense and was impressed with his visit. Visiting A&M next, per scout

OK, it just seems we play more 4-2-5 looks than anything which would diminish the need for as many LBs on the roster.

I guess I'm just looking at our current commit list...our glaring needs on OL and recruits we are in on at other positions...and I wonder where Sapp falls on that list of priorities with the coaches?

I have no doubt he is a high level prospect. This is not an indictment on him as a potential player. It is simply a logistical question.

No, it's without a doubt a legitimate question. I agree, there are obviously bigger concerns, I.e. OT, RB, CB. He may have very well lost his spot. It'll be interesting how it shakes out, but I think Sapp is a complete OLB that could contribute on ST right away and help with depth. He is very good. Your question is a good one though, and honestly, I jave no idea. You very well could be right. Personally, I think he's worth a take though

I think we'd all be happy either way I assume. If you get Sapp, you have a potentially elite OLB. If the spot is used for OL or another position, it will obviously be justified.

When is his alleged commitment date or has he not yet set one due to his "flip flopping/lack of want to pull the trigger"?

Looks of it on bleacher report, he gets an offer from TAMU, it's a done deal kid seems enamored by coach Sumlin. Gives us another OL spot for HeftyLefty I suppose!

If UT doesn't get him, it's because the relationship soured after Paulk's dismissal. From everything I heard, it was going well until the game that Gillespie went to before the UGA game. I think he would prefer to stay closer to home. But that's recruiting.
