'15 GA OLB Quarte Sapp (UT Signee 2/4/15)

So let me get this straight, Burrell is not a take? So according to your logic, we don't need OL.

I'm not sure what colvol's thought process is, but I have some doubts about Burrell. My thinking is that he projects best as a guard but we don't need guards; we need tackles.

If UT doesn't get him, it's because the relationship soured after Paulk's dismissal. From everything I heard, it was going well until the game that Gillespie went to before the UGA game. I think he would prefer to stay closer to home. But that's recruiting.

If he's upset that the university doesn't keep guys who slap their girlfriends around, than it is probably best he looks elsewhere.

This one is a strange case.

The Volquest guys have said his family is urging him to commit (to UT) in order to lock up his spot, yet he seems to be holding out.

Kid is playing with fire. He's going to end up missing his chance to UT, niether TAMU nor FSU are going to take him and he's going to end up at a school like GaTech or Kentucky.

Maybe I posted the truth and you're too much of a homer to view it that way.

If a homer means using information provided by Hubbs, P Fort, Callahan, etc. sure why not? What or who is driving your opinion that Burrell is not interested in UT?

I'll hang up and listen.

Oh and don't forget to check the latest in the Matthew Burrell thread before dropping your 'truth bomb' loaded with credible backup.

The U.S. Army All-American mentioned he has a rapport with several Tennessee commits including Kahlil McKenzie, Shy Tuttle and Jack Jones.

“Those are my boys,” Burrell said. “I hung with all of them and Quart’e Sapp, too. I think he is going to go (to Tennessee).”

Convenient for you to bump after the most recent post from TOS. Maybe we actually have a chance now after his visit. Before that, he was just looking for twitter attention dating back to this summer when he saw our fanbases' reaction to Kahlil McKenzie.

Try being a little less condescending when you post.

Huh? I was questioning your take before TOS released the interview with Burrell. The recent interview was icing on the cake. You made a definitive statement about him not being interested in UT. And every analyst has suggested otherwise since the Florida game when he visited.

Follow your own advice on the last part.

There was nothing concrete pointing to us having a chance with him before his visit unless you count him tweeting "Go Vols" occasionally. Clearly the visit has changed his mind and we are real players in his recruitment now.

Finally have it from a reliable source that another linebacker in this class is not a priority.

I think this thread can slowly fade away now.

I wonder if Cortez McDowell has something to do with that? VQ guys have said he's really embraced the move to Will. And it sounds like he's coming along really well per 247.

And I think another thing that factors in, is the play of our OL and the need to land 1-2 more guys. Would love if we could flip Richmond and somehow snag Burrell.

Yep I think you are on to something there. Sapp is likely a will backer. We have Berry, Bates and now McDowell who likely fit best as will backers from the previous class. That's a log jam.

I think Sapp is a really, really, good player and vastly underrated on practically every site but do we have more pressing needs than another undersized linebacker? Yes we do.

I wonder, also, if they feel good about some backers in the 2016 class. Butili seems to be coming around to Tennessee.

Stephen Griffin may also play a factor here. He's 6'3" and weighs 190 right now. Give him 2-3 years and he could easily play at 225. Walker, if we land him, can play SLB/WDE like Maggit. I think Henderson and Taylor can do the same in certain situations. Point being, we have enough options that we don't have to wait around for Sapp. I love Sapp's game; however, I wouldn't turn down Phillips or Walker to get him. Plus, Austin Smith and Cherry is a great LB haul, so I'm not worried about LB for 2015.

The fact that another LB isn't a "priority" isn't exactly breaking news. The fact that an OL is a "priority" isn't either. Do we really have to hear it from Hubbs to know that? The question is if we miss on our priority (I don't believe we're currently favored to get any of the top OLs on our board), do we take a lesser OL just to fill the slot or do we take a better player at a position not necessarily a priority?

I thought it was understood. If you look at my post history I quote things from volquest fairly often.

I wasn't intending it sound like it was my own information. My apologies if it came off that way.

No problem. I was trying to be a smart a$$ or anything just an honest question. You are a solid poster and appreciate the insight just some people get bent out of shape if you know what I mean. 👍

It's cool.

The only two prospects I have ever claimed "inside info" on are Emmitt Gooden and Tariquious Tisdale and that's just because I live in the general area and know guys on both coaching staffs.

I try to draw conclusions based on reading tea leaves but mostly I bring info from Volquest here because that place is a cesspool and its hard to hold intellegent football conversation there. Not that its easier here but Volquest is terrible these days. Hubbs does nothing whatsoever to police the board and it shows.
