'15 GA RB Taj Griffin

We should definitely take 2 RBs in '15 if we don't get Scott this year.
I think probably two as well, even if we take Scott. Jaason Lewis is an interesting prospect who could play both sides of the ball so I wouldnt pin him to one side of the ball yet, but I really think he would be a punishing receiver at the next level and could even see some sets at RB. There is another 4* running back out in Michigan named Michael Webber who talked highly of the Vols a few weeks ago, but Mich St is in the driver's seat with that one.

Is this the kid who was like a package deal with the OL prospect? Edoga?

Seemed like we weren't interested.

yep. We were actually leading for Chuma for a while. apparently we slowed our interest in Taj (per his ask.fm), so they both slowed on us.

Shame too imo...I really like both of them. Interesting to see how our RB situation works out in next year's class. In on some really good RBs...my two favorites are Swinney and Weber though. If we don't get a third RB this year, I would definitely be OK with a haul of Swinney, Weber, and Taj next year

I agree with you. I think we should be taking at least 2 RB's a year. The platoon system that both Bama and LSU use with their RBs keeps them fresh and helps minimize the injuries. The only way to get there is to keep bringing in a couple of quality RBs each year.

Swinney and Weber for 15 IMO

How many guys can we sign next year? After all the blueshirts and grayshirts, or however we do it, we can't have too many scholarship spots left on the roster for next year after this class is done.

Don't know if we'll have the luxury to take 3 rbs.

Should be able to take 25, if not, very close. More players who will not play and are recruited over will leave, opening up roster spots towards the 85 limit. Which is the only problem.

25 is high. 20-22 is probably more accurate. Source: Roster :)

Guys like Hill, Harris, Blanc, Clark, Brewer, Lewis, and Carson are all possible transfers. I would expect us to have another larger than expected class in '15. Space will be made again.

25 is my guess for next year. I think we use all our back counts this cycle, but I imagine enough guys will leave to free up space to get us to the 22-25 range.

Hate to say it but from the outside looking in it seems like the staff is trying to turn over Dooley's roster as quickly as possible, so I kind of expect the attrition to continue.

Yep, attrition happens every year, but especially the first 2 years of a coaches tenure. Should get to 25 easy, or close.

"Taj Griffin is a RB from the South squad today, also a McEachern standout, who has drawn some interest from the Vols. Aside from a kickoff return, however, Griffin was held largely in check."

I wonder if we are recruiting him hard now since Chuma Edoga named us his leader and they plan on going to college together. Hope so, having Hurd and Taj as a running back tandem would be insane!

Swinney and Taj would be a great RB haul for 15.
