'15 GA RB Taj Griffin

Happens on every recruits profile, may as well get used to it.

When there is an update or something new to talk about it will be discussed in depth. People like to talk about this and that just to pass the time and have something to discuss between said updates. I don't see why it bothers some people, unless it goes on for pages and pages, because when there is a new article or some sort of news it is always posted pretty much immediately. This is a free board after all (thanks to Freak), not like we are paying to get info on here. Not trying to be smart or anything BTW, and this isn't directed at you, Jason.

Five-star all-purpose back Taj Griffin, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 25 overall prospect in the 2015 class by 247Sports, couldn’t be reached for comment over the weekend following his first trip to Knoxville, but teammate TJ Rahming said Griffin enjoyed the visit

“Actually, Taj liked it a lot,” Rahming said. “That was his first time (at Tennessee). From what I saw, just knowing him as a person, when they were playing all the videos and stuff (showing) how it is on a game day and stuff like that, it really impressed him. That’s all I could see from him, but he said he liked it a lot.”
Oregon appears to be one of the early favorites for the 5-foot-10, 175-pound Griffin, and most of recent picks on 247Sports’ Crystal Ball have pointed to the Ducks perhaps being the team to beat at this point. Clemson and Florida State are among the other teams that are believed to be high on his list. But Griffin’s first visit to Tennessee at least might have given the Vols a chance to become a legitimate contender.

Vol Kirby -- anything new on 247? Kipp Adams evidently spoke with Taj about his visit

Edit: Ron beat me to the question

“The facilities were really nice and I really like the staff,” Griffin said. “I spoke to the running backs coach (Robert Gillespie), and he was talking about how they would use me in the offense and what my role would be,” Griffin said. “They told me how much they like me and how much they want me to be a part of the program."

“I have not had a chance to actually sit down and decipher Tennessee’s offense, but it seems like Tennessee is saying they will use me in the same aspect as Oregon wants to,” Griffin said. “Tennessee was saying they do not have that guy that can get into space and score. They said they need that guy that can turn eight yards into eighty, and they feel I can be that guy, that difference maker for Tennessee. The way Tennessee put it, I feel they would use me in the way I want to be utilized.”

“Honestly, if I went to Tennessee I would get a significant amount of playing time,” Griffin said. “I would probably get a nice bit of playing time as a freshman since they said they do not have that guy like me on campus.”

“What stood out the most to me was how well Tennessee is doing in recruiting,” Griffin said. “They brought in a great class and I feel like they are doing a great job with that. Tennessee is an up-and-coming program that I feel has a really bright future and I will have to take that into consideration.”

Seeing his HS teammates (Chuma and Rahming) giving a hard look at UT definitely helps, but he wants to keep an open mind. Upcoming trips to Oregon, USCw, and Klempsun.
