What kind of treatment is ole Bob gettin over there in the FF?
Appears to be a mixed bag. Some are thanking Bob for the information because it is cool to know stuff before we hear it on the news. Others are bashing Bob for releasing the information on the grounds that it shouldn't be available for public consumption. One Bob opposition leader seems to think that this JM situation is analogous to keeping fraternity hazing in-house and has posted as much on several threads. Some people are stating that Bob's stats are slipping because most of us hate that Bob is mostly correct (and so damn smug about it). Others believe Bob's stats are intact because (1) he only stated that release papers were signed and hedged on whether JM was actually leaving and (2) he followed up with the update that JM showed up to the late night work out last night. Pretty typical of what we're seeing in the RF, but with markedly more Bob lovers. As you can see, I was very productive at work today.

You are correct, sir. I will accept your advice and work on my paraphrasing technique. I realize that fraternity hazing can cause a bit of a sore spot.![]()
Not at all. Hazing happens but it wasn't analogous to the Justin Martin incident like a chapter meeting. Kids of that age argue and overreact. Sometimes it takes 10 mins and sometimes it takes a day to cool off. My point is that Bob should have given it some time to work itself out. If Martin was still going to transfer even after sleeping on it, then fine. You made it sound like an outragous claim from some FF nut. :hi:
If you don't think it's a strong analogy then you've merely never experienced it and speak with ignorance. That, I cannot help. Agree with the last bit though.Well, to be fair, I did not make it sound like anything of the sort. The words I used were meant to convey my belief that the analogy is not particularly strong IMO. Substituting chapter meetings would not change this opinion. Aside from that, I merely included it in a synopsis of posts made regarding reactions to Bob's treatment in FF forum due to its use in several threads. If you drew an additional negative inference from my mistaken paraphrase of this analogy, that can hardly be helped from my stanpoint. In any case, I think we can agree that it would be better for the team and JM if this incident were not available for public consumption.

In fact, I'll break it down for you:
60-100 18-22 yr old males. Check
Possible drug use. Check
University endorsed organizations. Check
Split opinions on topics that lead to shouting matches and threats. Check. Experience an election with two close candidates.
Older members who believe they sacrificed a large amount for the better of said organization. Check.
The most major difference: one is athletics and one is social.
Not sure how it's "not particularly strong".
Well, since you asked, I will lay it out for you. The main weakness is that a lot of people care what happens in a team meeting at a big time football program, whereas virtually nobody cares what happens in a fraternity chapter meeting. Thus, the situations are not comparable because, in the former situation, there is clearly incentive on the part of persons in the inner circle to leak insider stories to an eager market of listeners. Conversely, the general lack of interest in fraternity activities on the part of the public at large makes it a lot easier for the cooling off effect you keep referencing in the fraternity context. Thus, there is a glaring fallacy in your analogy for anyone who cares to look. An additional weakness is that analogies are largely intended as persuasive devices and you are not likely to persuade anyone coming from the standpoint of a fraternity member. Because fraternities are exclusive organizations (I know, I was VP of mine in college), the vast majority of people are not going to be able to relate to, and therefore be persuaded by, your attempted analogy. End of rant.

Why on earth, if true, would he lash out at Butch for calling out the weed smokers?
Doesn't speak very highly of him, if true.
No matter your personal beliefs, student athletes are prohibited, by rule, from partaking.
Pretty stupid if you ask me.
