1 credit short is all? Alot of people on here made it seem like he had went to class 3 days in the last 2 years. Either there is alot more to the story, or something is very off here.
SIAP, this was posted on CoachT.com
"According to his transcript from Lenoir City he was only 1 credit shy of being eligible to play for them . He made that credit up over the summer through Knox Countiy's credit recovery program, which is an online course software called E=Learning. And that program is used county wide for any student that needs to retake a course. The reason he is at West and not Lenoir City is because his guardianship changed from his uncle who was fired at Lenoir City, to his real dad who lives 2 blocks from West and where he has 2 brothers that have played for the last 2 years. He could play for Lenoir City if he wanted to pay tuition and drive to Lenoir City everyday. He never did live in their zone, he could play for them because his guardian at the time was employed there.
So, here is where it stands. Academically according to TSSAA guidelines he is going to be eligible. He did have a legal change of guardian to his real dad who does actually lives in the West zone. So, those things are working in his favor. There is one more hurdle to clear. Lenoir City has to write a letter stating that he did not transfer solely for athletics. Wether they are willing to do that remains to be seen. If they do then the decision on his eligiblity falls right in the lap of the TSSAA executive director, Bernard Childress. We shall see."
They are one of the favorites in 5a.
Terrance Hall just got cleared to play for West. He is Lenior City's best wide receiver. He will play against Fulton. Camion will most likely play week 2 against Maryville. Zeller is going to be pretty pissed but West does not need any written permission from LC for Camion to play from what I know.Cool, thx
Edit: found something on West, sounds like they are stacked already, add Patrick and they are a threat to win state.
Expectations couldn't be any higher for West » Knoxville News Sentinel

Didn't want to disagree earlier, until I could find a public source, but LC does have to give written permission. To my knowledge, LC is dragging their feet, and I don't blame them. There is plenty of animosity there, on both sides. Plus, West and LC are in the same district, and I'm sure they don't want to play against him.
Most of that animosity is directed at the kid for failing to meet his eligibility requirements while he was enrolled at LC, specifically over the summer. He was supposed to play for LC, up until the first week of August, when Mike Zeller made the announcement that he wouldn't be playing for LC. A week later, it was announced that he had enrolled at West. Was thinking that was a possibility but you'd think someone with a clear head over there would see the pr ramifications if it were revealed a legitimate transfer process was stalled due to animosity about a star player moving to a school within their district.

He has a legitimate reason for transferring (father), but the problem here is that he left LC on very bad terms (grades), and I just don't know if they are willing to write that letter.
Again, I understand where you are coming from, but I don't blame LC at all for playing it this way. I agree, this has a lot more to do with feeling jilted than an academic issue. I wonder if it would have made a difference had he transferred to a school in another district.Bad grades is not a legitimate reason tho, schools would be glad to have horrible students transfer. So if it's left to the reason " bad terms" that would make lc look petty. Not sure what's going on here but it doesn't seem wise to drag your feet on this. I'm assuming this letter has nothing to do with transferring academically tho, just releasing him athletically. If they held up a transfer for academic reasons they would be charged with disrupting a child's education.

From what I understand, West has everything ready to submit, except for a letter from LC. Who knows. I guess time will tell.I just researched it a little more. Apparently they need two things. Evidence by a court order of change of guardianship. That lc would have nothing to do with. secondly the tssaa needs a letter from lc stating that the transfer was not due to athletic or disciplinary reasons. So lc prob couldn't claim athletic reasons due to change of guardian and hence need to move. But there could be something to the disciplinary angle and hence the holdup. Of course it could be that it takes forever to get anything done when a government agency is involved.
