'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

Very unlikely we take 4 RBs. We need LB and a defensive back and an OT

Agrees. We don't have the room and have way too many needs at other positions that still need to be addressed in this class to take 4 backs this year. Take Karmara, and 2 of: Bussey, Frazier, Love, Dauphine, Reid, or Vaughn and be done at RB this year.

That is the most likely scenario. On last Sunday's edition of "Big Orange Sunday," Coach Doug Mathews said that he believes that, "When it’s all said and done, we’re going to bring in probably 4-5 offensive linemen [and three running backs. We’re also] going to bring in, counting defensive ends, probably 7-8 defensive linemen, and [perhaps as many as 14 defensive players overall.]”

Nebraska commitment*Kendall Bussey*left his high school game early after injuring his right leg during Newman’s final tune up before the Louisiana state playoffs.

The Times-Picayune*reported the injury and added that Bussey was on the sidelines at the end of the game on crutches with his right leg off the ground.

Bussey ran for 104 yards and three touchdowns before the injury in Newman’s 56-20 win.

The running back had recently become a big topic in Nebraska recruiting as there were reports he was considering decommitting and was looking at Tennessee and Texas A&M as possible programs. Bussey had not yet decommitted as of Friday evening.

I like Matthews a lot. I think his perspective is an insightful one on game day play and he also seems to have his finger on the pulse of recruiting. Taking 14 players on defense, however, is kind of surprising to me. It seems like our biggest needs are at OL and RB due to sparse recruiting at these spots previously. Adding to that is we recruited a lot of defensive players last year and those guys seem to be contributors, or will become contributors. Of course, I think you win with defense, particularly with a stout defensive line, and recruiting impact players and for depth makes sense, but that number still surprises me.

I bet he is glad as hell that he did not decommit from Nebraska yet.:loco:

Yeah, and I didn't mean what I said in a bad way. I just think that the coaches can't afford to take a risk at RB this class with as thin as we will be. Have to have someone who can potentially play...not someone who you know will most likely have to redshirt. Of course, this is all speculative right now.

:banghead2: Hope he is ok. It seems more than normal amount of recruits are getting hurt this year.

Do we really need Bussey? We just picked up Abernathy IV for next year and we have Kamara coming in January. It seems we could get by with one more RB from Reid or Love for this year. We need room for some of the game changers that we are still in on at other positions.
