I don't know. VQ seems questioning Reid a lot. Don't know if they'd do that if it were possible he's sticking around. Think its Kamara, Abernathy transfer, and 1 of Love or Vaughn. I like Vaughn as more of a true RB option.
Just curious, but why?
What you are saying is they want a slightly larger run first Pig Howard. They have Pig presently playing the role they are recruiting for. IMO. That's the only reason not taking Reid makes sense to me.You know why? He can't play that fast. I've been saying it all season in a very respectful way. I think Hurd has the potential to be the best RB ever here. He has an unique combination of power, size, and quickness. He also has a really quick burst when getting to the outside. He'll look even better when he learns to read holes better, something that will come with more and more playing time. Here's what I think has happened, I believe that Hurd came here and blew by every RB we had here. I think our staff saw a guy who was just hands and feet better than anyone else we had. I think the hype started to build around him, and then people became convinced this guy was going to come out busting 30+ yard runs every game. By game two I knew two things about Hurd, one, he loves running over people, and two, he was going to be a RB who consistently gets 4-5 yards every carry. As the season has progressed, I believe our staff is starting to see a glaring need in our offense, which is a super fast RB in and out of his cuts. Perry and Love seam to fit this beal very well IMO. We need a speedster at RB. I'm talking someone who blows by everyone when he gets the ball. He may not be a great RB per se, but rather a great playmaker. Hopefully, it'll be someone who can catch, run, and play STs. I think Hurd/Karama/Reid are every down backs, and I think Perry/Love are the speedsters that come in to make big plays down field. I think Scott is a wildcard RB who none of us know enough about to tell what kind of RB he is.
Not LV, but my answer would be at around 25 lbs bigger, Vaughn is more of a direct replacement for Hurd. Kamara and Abernathy fill the specialist back role for this class, IMO.
I think Abernathy lessens the need but they would still take three backs if they were great RBs. I think Reid is pretty good, he's a mauler and can get tough yardage inside but he just doesn't have the speed or the change of direction to just be dynamic in my eyes. The kid has put up crazy numbers and I think he probably does well somewhere but I just don't see him ever jumping talent like Hurd or Kamara and that's the type of talent we should be bringing in every year from here on. JMO don't shoot me please.Could mean several things...
Maybe we got good vibes from Dauphine.
Maybe Fraisier is more in play than we thought.
Maybe Love is a near lock?
Maybe we stick with Reid.
Maybe Bussey just flat out decided Nebraska was best for him.
Maybe taking Abernathy means one less spot for a tailback.
Never seen RDA play. How does he compare to DY?
I can't see how Abernathy for one year, where IMO he wont be a factor at RB at all has anything to do with this. He will be a special teams returner (which he is very good at) and that is about it.
I talked to Bussey Sr. on Sunday night about Kendall Jr.'s injury, which was a knee sprain that may or may not need operating on at the time, and he didn't mention anything about KJ (Kendall Jr.) shutting it down.
I talked with our guys at the Nebraska site this morning and they are the ones that broke the news and here's the quotes KJ gave them:
"I'll be signing with Nebraska in February. It's all over, I'm done. That's it. I won't be taking any other visits or talking to other coaches or anything like that. It's over."
This has been a weird recruitment since Tennessee got involved and I'm not sure what happened as I think the family was planning on a flip after the season and had communicated that with Tennessee.
But, with the injury, the Vols officially taking a senior transfer next year and other things, maybe both parties decided to part ways.
