I think Abernathy lessens the need but they would still take three backs if they were great RBs. I think Reid is pretty good, he's a mauler and can get tough yardage inside but he just doesn't have the speed or the change of direction to just be dynamic in my eyes. The kid has put up crazy numbers and I think he probably does well somewhere but I just don't see him ever jumping talent like Hurd or Kamara and that's the type of talent we should be bringing in every year from here on. JMO don't shoot me please.![]()
I keep seeing everyone knocking Reid's speed.. So he must play against the slowest league in the country because he outruns everyone in his tape.
He was on twitter the other day bragging about running a 4.64 40. He's slow.
Also he has little to zero explosiveness or lateral agility
Abernathy coming in means we can hold out on taking another RB in 2015 and show Emmons and others in the 2016 class that there's plenty more room for them.
I'm totally cool with Kamara and Reid only. I think if Love wanted to commit it would be hard to turn him away though. But Stanford may be his pick regardless.
A lot of very good RBs probably do not run much faster than a 4.6. Especially if they are north of 220lbs. His speed IMO is fine.

Chubb has a laser timed 4.44 forty since someone was comparing the two earlier. Speed matters. A lack of speed at several positions is why we sucked so badly during the Dooley years.
To be clear, he is slow, has zero explosiveness, zero lateral agility BUT Tennessee coaches extended an offer and accepted a commitment. And UGA coaches just invited him on campus to evaluate him and possibly extend an offer. I do not know if he will be a successful college RB. And anybody being honest with themselves on here, know that they have no idea either. But your representation of him is just plain stupid. Maybe Reid's dad/uncle took your starting spot when you where playing in that ultra competitive pee-wee league?
Yes, I fully understand there are a few exceptions. IMO you would find a lot more NFL RBs who run closer to 4.6 than 4.4 north of 220LBS.
So why do you think CBJ took his commitment months and months ago? He seems to have seen something he liked.
I can see it now. CBJ and company around the war room table talking RBs. "So he slow, has no explosiveness, and no agility"?
"Yeah, let's take him"!

How dare you challenge his pee-wee legend!! HOW DARE YOU SIR!!!![]()

You try to hard to be the volnation class clown. The problem is that you're simply not funny.
From your profile I notice that you are from Texas. Would it be funny if I made the most obvious joke and said "only steers and *****s come from Texas and you aint got no horns."
No it would not.
You have to put a little effort into it. An unoriginal one-liner followed by an emoticon, which seems to be your schtick is just not that funny.
My bad. I keep forgetting that Rocky Reid is above criticism on Volnation.
Rocky Reid is a cross between Barry Sanders, Jamal Lewis and Ghandi.
His tears cure cancer and his apartment smells of rich mahogany.
Does Reid have Senior film to make that statement? He looks plenty explosive for his size to me in highlights. I haven't seen his Sr. stuff though but in looking at his offers tells me he is a good running back. Those are all running back schools that churn them out yearly.
