'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

You're right I'm sure...I just don't have a great feeling about Love...could be these tacos though.

VQ has stated its between UT and Stanford with UT holding the edge. That is what gives me confidence with Love.

I hate to agree with Leb, but I do think Bussey is being slow played. It just like if we wanted him we would already have him.

Also you have Weber and Kelly gaining interest in UT. Gonna be interesting to see how RB recruiting plays out. Many moving parts.

That definitely sounds good!:hi:

Yeah, they said distance is a bigger factor than he is letting on. They sound pretty confident he is ours if we want him.

We aren't in Webers top group. He may be interested but I just don't think it comes to fruition with how tight our numbers are and also that his top group are schools that are much closer to his home.

the other factor is that unless you're bringing in 5 star or 6.0 4 stars, there is a good chance of misses. Only one out of every three or four 5.8 4 stars end up being SEC quality backs. We have a SEC quality back in hurd and probably kamara but I think people are wanting to have a third and perhaps fourth SEC quality back. That's why we need to bring in 3 besides kamara, counting RDA.

Don't see that happening. Butch doesn't split carries like Miles, Saban and Richt who can get that many good RB's at a time. Throughout his HC Career it's pretty much one workhouse, the backup spelling him then others getting mop up duty.

I agree..Think Bussey ends up at A'm and we get Love and if Reid decides to open things up then who knows from there.

I've tried to make that point. Seems no one wants to hear it. People keep saying how this school or that school does it, but from what I have seen, CBJ does not.

I have very little doubt that Hurd & Kamara will handle 90% of the RB carries next year. Scott would probably get a few as well. These folks worried about have mega stars at #4, #5, and #6 don't seem to be paying attention to how CBJ does things. JMO

This also make me wonder if we will be content to just take one more back this go around to go with Kamara.

I know you don't like Love but he seems to be the top priority right now and lets not forget his high school team has some high end talent coming in the next few years.

I can't say I agree, but with numbers getting tight some tough decisions are about to be made.

We were an injury away this season from Justus Pickett being our feature back. We need depth.

You're exactly right. I would think it would be hard to stockpile good RB's with the way he uses them. Definitely see Hurd and Kamara being a great compliment to each other but after them there prob won't be many touch's to go around unless there is an injury or blowout. Would like to see Kamara lessen the load on Hurd, especially with them liking to throw to him out of the backfield. And really hope Dobbs or whoever QB's don't have to run it 18-20 times a game either. That's just too many additional hits the QB will take and lessens the chance we get through the yr with just one QB. Exactly why I don't want a run first QB that some are clamoring for. They very rarely make it through a season, especially in the SEC. Gimme one that gets 6-8 rushing attempts per game at the most.

18-20 carries each for Hurd & Kamara, 5-7 for the QB, A couple here and there with the WRs, and then IF there are garbage carries the other RBs will get tossed a bone. IMO that is what I expect to see.

I can't say I'd be shocked if they just took Kamara and Love. They are obviously still pushing for him. I do think when we see another RB commit, that just means Reid is out. IF Love goes to Stanford, Bussey goes to A&M, and Vaughn decides to not fight for carries at UT, IMO Reid may get a chance to sign as a Vol if he has not already bailed.

In butch's defense he hasn't had a plethora of backs to split carries. We have Hurd and that's it. Last year we had Neal and that was it. Lane is what he is and that is not top rb talent.
So saying he doesn't split carries isn't exactly correct.

Actually he hasn't done that anywhere as a HC, not just UT. Could be the depth but everywhere he has been the majority of touch's went to one RB.

Can definitely see it working out that way.

Could be the depth. :hmm:

I actually prefer having 2 different type guys splitting carries and would think you would just about have to split carries with Hurd and Kamara. If GA didn't have all the RB injuries I would have been curious to see how you split carries after Gurley got his..All 4 of them could start at almost any school..

Ideal method...and helps recruiting...the converse works at LSU tho.

I am with Leb on this one. 2RBs this cycle is ok. If we going to take guys just hoping they are a little better simply for 3-4th string, Imo that is a schollie that should go to taking another OL thst might not be ranked high, but could develop over time. It does not matter how great your RBs are if you have a sucka** OL.

Butch is smarter than that. He knows two backs will not make it through the SEC grind. I believe he would play four backs if they were talented enough. He also knows its gonna take more than two QB's. He's not dumb.

UT has more than 4 RBs. UT has more than 2 QBs.

The guys down the depth char are there for what? Yes, depth. Of course CBJ is not dumb. That is why he brings in guys like Justus Pickett and RDAIV. For depth, and just in case they are needed.

Well, if he's not to busy, I hope he lets Mahoney know we'd like some LT prospects as well. I read the article on 247 that stated the 30+ freshman who should have been five stars for the 2014 class, every OT listed was 6'6" or bigger. Coincidence? I don't think so.
