'15 LA RB Kendall Bussey (Former UT commit)

both are much faster. totally different runners but great compliments to hurd, reid, kamara and scott

MUCH faster? Hurd has been laser timed in the 4.4 range, yes? It was near that, 4.37 comes to mind but not certain on that. I'm not sure you can be MUCH faster than that. Please correct me if I'm wrong on the time. He is close, if not the fastest player we have as far as straight line speed. I know Evan, Wharton, and Moseley are up there too. That said, stock up on as much speed as you can get!

they just accelerate faster. Hurd doesnt seem to have breakaway speed. but im no expert on him. just know hes a heck of a rb and is so similar to robert smith that its uncanny.

We already have one for him. Kamara, Reid, Bussey would get no complaints from me. Same goes for Frasier, Love and the kid from Tex. Basically no matter what, as long as we hang on to Kamara there is no combination of 3 RB's I'd be disappointed with.

This is my thinking.

I said this before the season and got flamed for it, but now people are starting to see it for themselves, but Hurd doesn't play at 4.4 speed. He is very shifty as a runner, and he has a great burst, but he doesn't play 4.4 in and out of his cuts. Hurd has the ability to be the best RB ever here, but we need a very elusive speed back that plays with sub 4.4 speed in and out of his cuts to balance Hurd's power running. Hurd is only going to get better the more he plays. He still misses his reads sometimes and still rolls out 100 yard games. If we can obtain a true speedster at RB and allow him to come in after Hurd pounds the ball, we will demonstrate success running the ball like you have never seen.

I can see Robert Smith. I can also see a faster Eddie George.

Hurd is about as punishing a RB there is out there, finishing his runs and delivering instead of taking the hit from the defender. That said, how hard is it to tackle a 5'9" 200 lb bowling ball that benches 360 and squats 500+? Lord have mercy on some LB's soul

No they are not both much faster.

This. Hurd has been timed sub 4.4 if I'm not mistaken, so those guys can't be much faster than he. I think he needs to work on his stride a little bit, but you also have to take into account that Hurd is basically our only weapon in the backfield so what do you expect? Him to play most of the game and not have fatigue affect him at all? C'mon griddie you're smarter than that. :good!:

Going to have to disagree with you there. According to CBJ they out GPS on all of the guys during the pre season workouts and no one was faster than Hurd on the team iirc. They're both fast but they're definitely not much faster than Hurd.

Edit: should've kept reading

You could really see Hurd's speed last week when he had some room to show it off. He looked really fast on quite a few runs. Had to listen to the first part of the game and the commentators kept talking about how fast he looked. It was fun watching the replay with that in mind and seeing exactly what they were talking about.

i just know Love has been timed at 4.35. didnt realize Hurd was that fast. he may be a fr all american. i love when he just plows dbs.

I'm waiting to actually see him in open field. He hasn't had a lot of space this year. But he is turning the corner a lot in the SEC. Think about that for a second. :)

He is so overdue for some more 40+ yard runs. I gotta feeling KY and Vandy are gonna learn some things

I believe Hurd was electronically timed at 4.37 at a camp event headed into his SR year of HS. He is also doing that while being about 50lbs heavier than Love. In a footrace Love might beat him, but it would be very close. Hurd's speed is elite, especially at his size.

In one of these last games this year, I would like to see Scott as tailback Hurd as fullback out of the I formation.

Think back to 1998, fullback Shawn Bryson takes a handoff from Tee Martin and runs straight up the middle of the field for a long touchdown run. They did this multiple times during the season. It was almost like the other teams could not comprehend a fullback being that fast. those plays still make me :) when I think of them.

Those days are over with Doc. :) Two Back Shotgun play is more likely to happen but I doubt it.

Hurd's top end speed is excellent. Acceleration is his problem. He's so long legged that it takes him several steps to reach top speed.

Correct. It was a camp at Ole Miss.

westside you nailed it i think.

Id like to see hurd dotting the I some and hurd and scott in some split backs.

Back to Bussey...

Its looking like its only a matter of time before he commits to us. A well respected poster on VQ says he is just waiting for the green light.

Here is my question though...

If Hurd was too tall to play tailback is Bussey too short?

I kid...I kid..

I kept watching his film and thinking his skill set reminded me on somebody but I couldn't get who it was. Today it hit me this guy is just like Darren Sproles. He is a bowling ball, extremely quick, and has great skills as a receiver out of the backfield. He is perfect for a system that gets him out in space a lot.
