'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

Just hope Butch can turn mama into a Vol fan. She was visibly unhappy and even said as much. Sorry but if my sons get full rides to any d1 program, especially SEC, I would be dancing around the table during the commitment and or signing.

Butch Jones is da man when it comes to signing big time recruits like Tuttle & Taylor. This guy agrees! lol

I have not seen any quotes from her, what did she say that makes her seem unhappy?

 i didnt know that

I'm curious to see this too.

I don't care who you are- if your child is down between an SEC school that is on the rise with an excellent coach or a dumpster fire of a football team that gets throttled by Eastern Carolina all while being under the microscope for some serious NCAA violations, it's a no brainer. She'd be a d*mn fool to push him towards UNC.

Academics, shmacademics. Let's be real- kids of Shy's talent level have NFL in the back of their minds from the moment they step on campus. Academics are just a formality.

Let me dig for it, she basically said it was his choice but she wanted him close to home and wanted him at North Carolina.

At least she is willing to let him make his own choice. She will appreciate it one day when he signs his multimillion dollar NFL contract.

I guess if he signed an NFL contract with Seattle, she'd complain that she wanted him closer to home. Cut the strings parents. NC is a dumpster fire right now. And Knoxville is really not that far from his home town.

Every once in awhile I venture into this thread just to smile and reflect on what the competition is going to have to deal with in the near future. Shy and K-Mac. Oh, my.

While I enjoy thinking what these guys will do on Saturdays, what they do during the week and in camp will be far more beneficial. Finally our OLine will have SEC caliber DL to practice against and get prepared.

Carolina is basically going through what we did during the Dooley era. As much as I love my Vols, I'm not sure I could send my kid here if it was that situation and he had other offers.

Also from 247...

"For now, though, he appears to be firmly committed to Tennessee, and the fact that he chose the Vols despite his mother admittedly preferring North Carolina speaks volumes of his desire to go to Tennessee"

All I can think of is the proximity and Fedora must have been walking around shirtless during their in-home. She'll come to her senses. He'll really blossom with KMac beside him.. Dare I say, KMac will really help Tuttle come of his shell... (ya or nah?) ??

KMac and Tuttle seem like a great duo on and off the field. Tuttle seems very timid and quiet off the field. I think the relationship with McKenzie and the coaching staff will help him out. Seems like a great kid and I hope he does very well while sporting the Orange and white.

Players feed off of ach other during the game. Kmac and Tuttle and the whole DL will be hard to handle for opposing OL. UT's defense will once again be nasty and other teams will know they're in for an all day azz whippin when they play us.

Hmmm....Charlotte to Knoxville is only 3 hrs 40 mins of drive time while Charlotte to Chapel Hill is 2 hrs and 15 mins. That's only a difference of 1 hr and 25 mins.

Her interest does explain why he considered them at all. Their defense is Sunseri bad right now. Hopefully, mom sees that would be a bad move.

I wonder if we'll have a tough time attracting blue chip offensive linemen having these two guys committed. Maybe they'll think twice considering they'll have to go against them everyday in practice. :)

I've actually thought the same thing. In linemen's threads, people are warning them about having to face them every year. What about 5-20 reps every practice. Need the guys who aren't intimidated. See "Jack Jones"

Yea, I was being half way serious but as a big time lineman, I would think you'd relish the possibility of going against the best every day in practice. That way when you play the LSUs, Alabamas and Floridas of the world it's no different than practice. I think maybe a real stout D line will make the o line that much better.
