'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

This is potentially another Henderson/Haynesworh combination. These two boys are incredibly skilled and athletic for their size.

I'm still hesitant to compare the 2 duos. Henderson & Haynesworth were just sooo damn Big.

McKenzie & Tuttle are "smaller" (only by comparison), but they are much quicker, and more versatile.

I don't think we'll see a similar duo, but we may see a better duo.

Holy crap, those reps look identical to KM's. I'd actually say that Shy looks to have a quicker burst and a little more agility than KM. I'm sure it has to do with the extra weight and lack of conditioning KM has had. KM has Greek God strength and Shy isn't too far behind. I'm just so happy.

He's the quick guy while KM is the bull. Their game compliments each other well. Now add Barnett to the mix and ummm yeah. :)

What can't be seen here is the player directly in front of Tuttle is screaming at the guy just standing there for help.... it never came

I'm predicting that Tuttle ends up a consensus 5* after the UA All American game. I also believe that Kyle Phillips has a shot at it too. Obviously, I hope Phillips becomes a Vol. This could be an epic haul both on paper and on the field.

He just might, Rivals has him up now on the main page

Based off the 247 practice reports. Tuttle had a tough time during some of the practice. Nothing to worry about, just read several times where he was stonewalled or a little slow off the ball.

Clearly overrated, 3 star by the end of the week.

Being stonewalled isn't always a bad thing for a tackle. They are supposed to occupy space and keep the OL from getting to the backers.

This is passing one on ones so more like maintaining lanes so the QB can't just scramble free up the middle. If they were doing run blocking then I'd agree.

If I have a nit to pick with Tuttle, it's that his first step is inconsistent. When he explodes forward, he's too quick and strong for offensive linemen at this level to handle. But sometimes he pops up off the snap instead of driving forward, and that robs him of a lot of his power.

Nothing that isn't fixable. Just something I noticed watching some of these highlights and his Hudl film.

Right in every play the DT main job is to maintain your gap and don't let the guard and center turn your shoulders.

quickness - explosion - leverage - keeping shoulders/feet parallel to line of scrimmage

I have not seen enough of King Tut. Most young DTs need to refine their technique. It is a learning process. Tuttle has the basics for sure: size, quickness; just must continue to learn.
