'15 NC RB Bryce Love

Is it track speed or football speed?
He may not fit our system?
4.3's don't make a football player.
He's too small.

Comments I recall about another 4.3 RB we didn't offer. :hi:

Surely you can see a difference in Love and Cottrell's film

Reasonable comparison IMO. Love plays in NC, Cottrell plays in E. Tenn. Cottrell averaged about 5 yards more per carry in 2013. He caught more passes. Cottrell's Sparq rating was better. Love dances a lot more on film than Cottrell does. Does that make him more "elusive" or does that mean Cottrell just didn't need to dance to get to the endzone? I think both kids will do well in College.

Something else I noticed tied to Cottrell. They are holding the "Sparq National Championships" or so they are calling it as part of the Opening in Oregon. How can they call it the championships yet not have the highest rated guys there? Cottrell I think would be the 3rd highest rating of the guys listed as competing. Should he not be there and allowed to compete for it? Odd.

let's compare offer lists

I've kind of gone away from using offer lists. As we have seen with UT especially lately, an "offer" does not mean much in ALOT of cases. What good is a 40 team offer list if 30-35 won't take the kid? Not saying that is the case here with Love, but it has played out that way with a lot of kids.

I don't really have a dog in this discussion, but it does seem a little odd to ooh and ah over one kid running 4.3 and another kid it's "not football speed". jmo

Well then that should speak even louder if a kid can't even get an uncommitable offer. Love is a better RB with a torn ACL.

Yeah...one's black...the other's white.

It has nothing to do with that bs. Love is just a WAY better football player. I bet you would get mad if someone said that is the reason some are being extra hard on a Black qb like Gibson. His film and measurables are incredible but some just think he is horrible for some reason.

NC is fast but not as strong or shifty as Love.

The "Numbers" just don't support it.

So are you saying because NC has a higher SPARQ he has better football skills or something? Love is still top 20 and faster. The offers and rankings show he is a better player. There is a reason we will take Love regardless of numbers and NC couldn't get an offer. NC couldn't even get an offer over Bruce.

I was just pointing out that where you said Love was stronger and more shifty than Cottrell was not accurate. Cottrell's shuttle time is faster and if you compare their power ball toss, once again Cottrell is stronger.

I'm not saying Nathan has better "football skills", just a better athlete. As I posted, the numbers are clear. Is Cottrell a better football player? Of course that is debatable. They both play RB and Cottrell did average more yards a carry as a RB. When I am looking at apples to apples, Sparq testing, and HS stats, and film, I see something different than you do. Of course with you and I, that's normal.

Also much like with Gibson, you have no idea IF CBJ would take Love today or not. He has 2 RBs onboard and he took 3 last year(knowing 1 would likely RS in Paulk). Would he take a 6th RB in a 2 year cycle? I doubt it, especially with what is left on the board at other positions of need. IMO it's UNC or Stanford for Love.

Give it up. Our coaches clearly don't think he's an SEC back. You people gonna carry that torch all the way to signing day?
