'15 NC RB Bryce Love

again u dont pass on a love or fraiser period. log jam hell our rbs have been average. two classes in and we finally wont be. two of these guys are coming off injuries. and at least three can play in the slot and are dangerous returners.

So who do we pass on?

McKenzie? Phillips? Jefferson? Richmond? Ordway? Martin?McGraw? Sapp? Tuttle? Jones?

We are in good shape to land most of these guys, but we only have so many scholarships to give. Already, the staff is counting on defections from the team to cover the extra signings in this class.

A 3rd RB is not a need. It is a luxury and wee do not have the luxury to take 3 when we desperately need help on the defensive side of the ball.

I see you have a new target for one of your insane thoughts about who we can or can't take. We don't have to turn down anyone we want until NSD. We could take 30 something commits even if we are only signing 22-25. The numbers will be taken care of by NSD. We are taking Love period if he wants to come. Everything says we will. Taking a bunch of good rbs hasn't hurt Bama.

I am amazed at the mentality of some on here. Don't you think the staff know who they want and which ones that have committed are shaky? Would it really surprise anyone on here if Rocky decided to go somewhere else? It shouldn't. Whether he does or doesn't this staff is prepared for contingencies and will be prepared to upgrade whenever they can. They have a job to do for UT.

Just because we took 3 RBs last year doesn't mean we don't as many quality backs as possible. Two of the backs we took last year had season ending injuries. Let's not forget 2012 when DY was our best RB available mid season after injuries

The staff continues to recruit as a contingency. However, the staff knows what the teams needs are and without a defection at RB, the staff is going to fill pressing needs at this stage of the process, not go after luxuries.

Our RBs in 2015 as of now.

Jr-Kamara
So-Hurd
So-Scott
Rsfr-Paulk (guess)
Fr-Reid

In SEC football that is incredibly thin. We could use one more elite RB in that mix for sure.

Kamara would be a RsSo but I agree adding another back would not hurt. I think it would also mean we missed on a high priority player at another position.

He has been mentioned as a high priority target by all recruiting guys. When will you realize numbers don't mean a thing right now? It has been said we will take him no matter the numbers. Reid will probably look around if Love comes anyway. Taking Love is not just a luxury. Getting him will not effect the other players you mentioned. You have been running out theories about who we will, can, or can't take and every commit we get keeps proving you wrong.

There has been some discussion recently on VN concerning the possibility of UT adding another RB prospect to this recruiting class. VN's self-anointed "experts" have repeatedly & matter-of-factly stated that UT will not add a 3rd RB to this recruiting class, because of, you guessed it, the "numbers situation".

VolQuest's Brent Hubbs & Paul Fortenberry, AKA The Best In The Business, just today posted this recruiting tidbit. It appears that VQ is under the impression that UT has been & will continue to heavily "push" for and recruit NC RB Bryce Love. It seems there is some contradictive information being spread out about this whole situation. VN, decide on your own what to believe. I'm going to side with big boys on this one. TIFWIW.

Bryce Love, RB, 5-9/176, Wake Forest, N.C.

Even with two running back commitments already in the fold the Vols are continuing to push for the all-purpose back out of North Carolina. Love could add a different speed element to the class as the Vols' offense continues to look for explosive playmakers to fit in their offense.

While Tennessee is in a good position here, they certainly aren't the only team. North Carolina has mad Love a priority for some time and they are very much in the picture as well as Stanford. The Cardinal received an unofficial visit earlier in the summer and seem primed to receive an official from Love. Love hopes to be back on Tennessee's campus for the first time since the spring later in July.

Positive, encouraging quotes. Butch Stones has been absolutely cleaning up in the state of North Carolina.

The schools who are in touch with Love frequently include North Carolina, Stanford, Florida and Tennessee. He expects to take visits to all four of those programs, as well as NC State, this fall for a game.

"Some of the trips I was scheduling for after The Opening were getting down to Florida and getting over to Tennessee again," he said. I want to get out-of-state a little bit, but I'll be going around in-state, too."

Love couldn't name one school that was recruiting him the hardest, but said it would be between Tennessee, North Carolina and Stanford.

"I'd say they're very in touch with me and talk to me on twitter a lot," he noted. "I also call them a lot; just things like that. You can tell they're really into trying to get me down for a visit."

The four-star runner, who is ranked as the No. 4 prospect in North Carolina, the No. 5 all-purpose running back in the country and the No. 98 senior in the land, noted that he wants to cut his list before the end of summer.

"I might do it right after The Opening and just say it on twitter," he said. "I've got a couple of schools that will definitely make the top list — probably Tennessee, NC State, UNC, ECU, Stanford and Florida, depending on how it goes down there."

Love expects to take all five official visits this fall and has an idea of when he will announce a decision, as well as how he might tell everybody.

"I want to do it during football season," he said. I'll probably schedule it with the school, something like that."

I'm not an insider by any means, but I had stated in a post about a month ago (actually it was right after Kamara committed) that if there was one back that the coaching staff would still pursue and take in this class that it would be Love. All I got were replies saying that a) there was no way we would take a 3rd back in this class, or b) names of backs that people felt were much better than Love (in their opinion) that we would much rather have. I stated that Love would add a factor that we could not turn away in this offense. Now the "experts" are saying pretty much the same thing. Not trying to blow my own horn (not flexible enough to do that anyway), but I still would really like to see us land Bryce Love in this class. I just think the kid can give us the same dynamic the Black Mamba gave the Oregon offense.

I will be very surprised if he sees more than 20 snaps in 2015. No offense to him, but he will at the very best be third behind Kamara and Hurd
I doubt he gets that many carries. The point is that the 6th strong RB does not get many carries at all.

How do we know if he can play? (Can be said for most but he is a transfer walk-on)

Paging Leb for his unwanted opinion on numbers...

IMO, Love is not a take today. I said before I did not see us taking a 6th RB over just 2 classes a little while back. Unless Kamara or Reid has a change of heart, they will be our 2 RBs for 2015. Do I think the staff just takes Love's commitment figuring it would push Reid elsewhere? No. IMO Reid better fits what we lack at RB right now. Our backs have gone down to easily the last few years. Reid can get us those tough yards IMO. Hurd has great speed. Scott has speed, Paulk moves really well. Kamara has SEC speed and then some. We have plenty of speed in the backfield. Reid brings ore of the hammer mentality. I'll take Reid and Kamara and focus on other more important spots.

Leb, you're probably wrong. We see what you're saying, but you're probably wrong.
