'15 NC RB Bryce Love

UGA took 2 in 2013 also. So they have taken 6 runningbacks in 3 years.

Bama took 6 in two years and now Bama is loaded at runningbacks and has had the best runningback core for a while.

So both teams have taken 6 or more and have the best depth at runningback in college football.

I don't have a big problem taking 6 RBs over 3 years. That's 2 a year and makes sense. 6 in 2 years not so much. Also you have to consider bama was loaded at other positions when they took so many backs in that 2 year period. We still need a lot of help at a lot of positions.

The UT coaches took him as a transfer. I'd guess they thought he would fill some sort of roll for the team. I don't think anyone expects to hear he's been named the starter.

Pickett is a Maryland transfer why do people act as if he's a good RB????

As a 5th or 6th string RB, he is much better than what most other teams have at the same position on their depth charts. RBs that deep on the depth chart rarely see any meaning flu playing time.

Including runningback. Nearly every positional unit is being based off of potential. Potentially, I could argue dline is in better shape than runningback. Idk yet but going off rankings dline has more stars

You normally play 1 RB at a time in a game. However, you play at least 2 DTs at a time and rotate them in and out regularly, so 4-6 DTs are playing regularly versus 2 and maybe 3 RBs playing in a game at all.

With at least 4 DL guys on the field at any 1 time when the defense is out there, of course depth and more bodies there makes sense.

Lane still hasn't lived up to his billing, maybe he will this year but his high school injury set him back 2 years. I expect the same for Paulk. Pickett is a walk on and is irrelevant.

So next year, we will have a juco sophomore and a true sophomore as our starters. Scott will probably be the third down back.

The 4th spot will be between love and Reid, if Love comes here. The other will redshirt

Paulk will more than likely not be as ready as the other backs because those injuries are hard to come back from.

I know, I'm just saying it's highly likely a big time highschool dlinemen won't ever start, just like rb. We signed 6-7 dlinemen last year and will get close to that again this year. That'll be 3x more dlinemen than rbs

Thats because more DL play in every game than RBs.

I hear the meaning flu is pretty bad this time of year

12-13 DL guys over 2 classes for 4 positions on the field.

5 RBs over 2 classes for 1 position on the field.

I'd stick with 2 RBs in 2015. Use the other spot for another position of need.

And the recruiting justifies that, which is why don't see why people are complaining about numbers. We will probably have close to 20 players on the dline compared to 6 Rbs, which is the number most teams have at runningback.

The problem is not having 6 RBs on the roster. The problem is taking your entire roster depth in 2 classes. All 6 RBs would be returning and the staff would be looking to take 1-2 more so now you're at 7-8 RBs and IMO wasting scholarships. Better to space them out on the roster VS trying to logjam the position and lose them to transfer later on.

The 1-2 is pure speculation by me. It probably depends on how the guys perform. If everyone looks great we may not take any unless he is elite.

I think I've heard this argument before somewhere.

People forget we didn't sign a runningback in 2013, Butch told Jabo Lee to leave. He will do the same again if he has to. He did the same thing at Cincy. It's ruthless but it is what it is. Also, Butch knows how his players are performing better than anyone on here. If we have an open spot for runningback, that probably means a position is looking better than people think

we take Love if he wants in regardless. If we want to compete for championships you take the best talent you can get. Period.

Does that mean you drop someone else? Who knows

You're gonna make it hard for Leb and Burger to sleep tonight.

But you're right, and we didn't exactly have a problem when we were getting 3-4 stud rbs in each class in the late 90s did we Leb?

It's a different game these days. We aren't running the ball all the time anymore.

Unless I am missing something, looking back at those classes in '94, '95, all the way through 2008, I only notice 1 class where we signed 3 RBs. We never signed 4. :dunno:
