'15 NC RB Bryce Love

I also think it's hard to make adjustments when you have one hand tied behind your back as a coach. I think it may be a little unfair to judge him given what he has to work with. When we had a decent running QB that fit his system and a healthy Jalen Hurd no one was complaining much about him.
Maybe we could send him to a few AU summer camps and Gus could give him a few pointers.

My thing with Jake is that he doesn't make adjustments mid-game. If he sees that something isn't working, he should go in at half-time and talk to the offense and try to get some new things working. Instead, he beats the RB Dive play into the ground. Then between games, he makes adjustments. For example, almost abandoning the "triple-option" plays with VP coming in motion even though those plays helped us put up around 400 yards against South Carolina.

Good play-callers know how and when to make adjustments. Jake does not do that.

Not sure why we got away from that triple option motion play but it coincides with the Crowder injury. I don't know how that would effect anything but we went away from it after he went down late in KY game.

@BruceFeldmanCFB: Blue-chip RB Cameron Scarlett just announced he's going to play for #Stanford

Putting all bias aside Love is perfect for this program. Hes a perfect fit for our offense and would excel. He is not a good fit at all for the Stanford offense.

Hurd + Kamara + Paulk(hopefully) + Love + RDA we should be alright at RB I think. If Paulk isn't re instated I would understand taking one more.

J. Bruce said hes gonna be a RB who will never play. And that guy from Cinci. That may be RDA but idk

I agree it hurt some. But we don't have to throw lateral 85% of the time. How about more quick slants? Quick Seam routes? 5-10 yard curls? Those don't take that long to develop.

We need to find a way to do it, but here's why we didn't

1-Worley struggled to hit people in stride. Miss over the middle, it's an int/blown up.

2-dobbs struggles with accuracy, especially from the pocket (which is odd)

3-TE seams got dropped a lot.

4-quick slants got dropped a lot.

Poor execution killed us whenever we tried to go over the middle. Personally, I think you HAVE to find a way to attack the middle. And that's on jake, worley, dobbs, and all the dropped passes. But, there are legit reasons attacking the middle was very risky, and thus far while managing our youth, the staff has been very risk averse.

One way to help that is putting the RB in position to catch the ball right In front of the line on short middle screens/check downs. Love will be good in that role, along with Hurds proven ability. Hope we get him.

True story on the staff bring risk averse. My jaw hit the floor when they ran the fake FG.

They get nasty when they feel it's needed (e.g. Mizzou game fake and 2013 UGA 4th downs) but I think it's not often enough. I'm curious to see what happens when they feel the team isn't youngsters anymore.

Per Hubbs

Also, it continues to be a two-team race from our vantage point for Bryce Love as the Vols and Stanford battle it out. Love already has his official visits to each school set up for January and is set to announce just a few days before signing day at his school.

Some asked this week if Stanford landing a running back would diminish the Cardinal's chances with Love and we were told by both people on the West Coast and in North Carolina that it had no affect on his standing with Stanford.
