'15 NC RB Bryce Love

I'm torn between Love and Lewis. Love is a better fit for our offense and has elite speed, but it's good to have a bruiser like Lewis regardless of what kind if offense you run. I'll be happy if we land either.

Love is definitely top on my list. Hurd has a bit of bruiser in him

There is so much wrong in this post.

1. Tennessee has improved in rankings from 2010-2014.

2. Tennessee dropped slightly in 2014 because of a calculated decision to bring in a much larger class. This increased the acceptance rate, which is the sole reason for the variation in rankings. US world and news rankings are based entirely on acceptance rate, 1st year retention rate, 4 and 6 year graduation rates, and incoming student test scores.

3. Cheek didn't "increase the ACT requirements", they have simply increased based on attracting better candidates, score inflation, and limited capacity (because of the ineptitude during the 2000's, which is being appropriately rectified).

4. Forbes undergraduate rankings are a joke. They are not taken into account by anyone important. It is all about USW&N.

TL;DR, you are the joke.

I believe that most of the rankings are a joke. Schools wanted to use their rankings for marketing so much that they are trying to merely adjust their numbers that are used for rankings. That is counterproductive.

The scholarship program has been the primary reason why UT has become a better academic school. Kids, who have good academic records, are getting the free money and staying in-state. I think I saw that the 2013 incoming class had an average ACT score of almost 27.

I do agree though that we must be careful because UT is the flagship university for the state. We need to continue to take care of our state kids first and not accept others just for numbers.

This cannot be stated enough. If the system does not take care of state residents it has strayed from its mission from when it was established. Natural improvement in enrollment academics is great. Tennessee Promise may help set the tone with its development of quality students that have the opportunity to transfer in at some point.

Curious how this is going to turn out with Love.

I do wish Tennessee would offer better out-of state scholarships though. I would've loved to go there, but they offered the lowest amount of any state school in the southeast. I think there's something in getting out of state students with the the idea they'll move permanently making the state better

ut has come a long way, and, im aware of its increase in national ranking among public universities. however, the 'education is what you make if it' argument, while somewhat valid may lose a bit of luster when talking about Stanford, Rice, Cal Tech, et al.

Yes and no I mean in my department at UT had professors from Harvard, Cal Tech, as well as some that are the most well respected in their field (Hap Mcsween for an example). I didn't take nearly enough of an advantage of the high quality department that was available to me at UT.

Hopefully Love is shown that you can acquire a really high quality education at UT especially in the STEM fields if you give it a chance

Tennessee
Indeed. With his speed, he could be a multi-role player like Percy Harvin/Tavon Austin. I think he would have a chance to get some early PT when we want to run jet sweeps, or he could play a little from the slot, in a similar role as Von Pearson does, currently...going in motion as the 3rd option.

On the education side of things, it depends on what he wants to major in. Some departments at UT are pretty renowned.

Yes and it doesn't hurt that jones is so adamant about the academic side as well.

Callahan

Crystal Ball picks: Stanford 50%, North Carolina 39%, South Carolina 6%, Tennessee 6%

Love, a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite, has been one of Tennessee’s top running-back targets for months, and the Vols and Stanford appear to be the teams to beat. He’s scheduled to take official visits to both schools this month, starting with a trip to Stanford next weekend, before announcing his decision Jan. 30. Stanford remains the favorite on the 247Sports Crystal Ball, with the Cardinal having received nine of the past 10 predictions. But UT also has picked up one of his latest predictions.

I think that is the one piece of the puzzle that needs to be addressed in Love's mind before he commits. Question is if someone else commits at RB does Love lose his spot?

I think this is why he tweeted he accepted, but still making it public on 30th. He felt he had to tell coaches now imo. I know he could be talking about being accepted into Stanford, but not decided on school, but jmo.
