'15 NC RB Johnny Frasier

Johnny made an unofficial visit to NC State over the weekend. He's still mulling over where he wants to take his officials. Right now, he's getting ready to start the season; Princeton starts practice in a few days and plays its first official game on Aug. 22. I'll be at a lot of his games this fall. They've got James Kenan coming to town midway through the season, and it should be the biggest game Princeton's played in close to 40 years.

This guy, as I've said before, is the real deal. Best high school RB I've seen in 21 years in the business. If he wants to come to UT, you make room for him, period.

I agree JC. I go scoffed at by many saying he was the best rb in nc. hes as good as ta mclendon. one of the best ive seen in a while. Truly hope gives TN a real shot.

Gentlemen it was a joke.

Needed to drop a smiley all up in there IMO. 😊. Have you read some of the posts on VN lately? Guarantee you there are plenty of guys who read that, said "hell yeah, that boy can fly, how come he ain't a 5 star?"

Not when you are already full, with 2 RB's committed. That's probably why we are no longer going hard after Love, either. These kids are just going to have to step up their timeline for committing, or their choices are going to start dwindling before their senior season begins.

You may be elite and all, but you drag your feet around thinking every major program is going to wait on you...you got another thing coming. Teams are going to snatch the players they need while they can get them. That = blue chip players getting stuck out with many schools that were once high on their list.

Torrance Gibson comes to mind. He could already be one of the 2 QB's we take this year. Now, after dragging things out, he's pretty much dropped off many of his favorites' radar...including us. I think CBJ is recruiting him, still...but not as a QB.

Not if a player is truly elite. Coaches will make room.

Wrong on almost all accounts. Coaches make room for elite players. It's a fact.

Would most consider DJ Jones elite? He is considered the #1 Juco DT in the country. It seems the UT coaches passed on him and "did not make room". Yes, it happens. I would not be shocked at all to see Kamara and Reid as UTs RBs on NSD. Getting the "elite" guy is great. How do the fans know that UTs coaches do not see Kamara AND Reid as "elite"? They did take their commitments.

It does not seem like they passed on Jones. He wasn't ready to commit and they shifted focus to Tuttle. I don't consider that passing on him. They were in a dog fight with other schools.

An elite player choose the defending national champs over us... We didn't pass, but you just can't win them all

He was not ready to commit, yet chose FSU? Interesting.

Can't blame the guy for choosing FSU. Had a strong draft class this past year, had success with Jernigan (hated we didn't get him, remembered how hard we were after him, another Dooley loss). If I'm a JUCO guy, I'm looking for immediate playing time, immediate success, immediate visibility, and the ACC I believe doesn't have the same academic requirements that the SEC does.

Don't know. I hate to think of Butch "losing" one, but if we must "lose" one, I'd prefer it be to FSU, rather than Bama or Florida or UGA, as has been the case. Would rather keep the talent away from the enemies.

Yes it does at times. IMO, this was not one of those times. DJ had UT as his clear leader for a while. He continued to speak about the UT staff sticking with him. All a sudden UTs DT recruiting shifts to Tuttle and a week later DJ commits to FSU on his 1st visit there. Just a month earlier it was UT#1 and FSU was 7th on his top 10. I'd think it's a very strong possibility UT passed on DJ.

As for passing on "elite" recruits and the thinking that the UT coaches are smart enough to "make room" for the talent, what about Torrance Gibson? Did UT "make room" for him? Maybe they passed? Yeah, it happens.

You would take Frasier without a doubt and drop another kid, be it a RB or another position.

This kid is too damn good to pass up.

I think their reasoning is that REID is one star short of being a star...don't look at the film...services know all. :geek:

Maybe they feel good enough about these new DL after a summer of workouts and seeing how these kids came in that they feel they don't need a JUCO lineman outside of what they already have, and they decided to stick to High Schoolers only?

I mean, outside of Kamara, we haven't taken any JUCO's, and Kamara is virtually a freshman. Maybe we're just feeling good about our chances in a few years, and don't want to spend the depth on a player that will be here a year or two compared to four?

No idea. Don't see the staff sticking around for as long as they did on Jones, and then just dropping him, unless they feel REALLY good about what they have already on the team, or who they have publicly or silently committed.

I'm with LV on this one. I don't see this kid as "elite". Preston Williams is elite , Big Mac is elite. You cannot put frasier in the same class as those guys.

I think we are trying to build depth for the future rather than taking JUCOs
