'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

I know you're busting balls here, but it seems like we haven't heard much from Frasier lately. Think we are 4th behind FSU and the 2 NC schools where he can be "the man."

Not really busting anything...just wondering where the stretching point of this "gotta take" philosophy is. We gotta take Love but what if we don't have a spot because somebody else we gotta take done took it?

I'm pretty sure the coaches have a board and the top 3 names on it get a spot if they want it. Spot number 4 is not a take. I'm sure that is where your "stretching point" is.

You think Kamara is in that top 3? If so we're talking top 2...and if Bussey takes one of those, then how would you feel if Reid decommits and Love doesn't pick us? Hard press for Vaughn? How giddy are we then? Doomsday scenario we end up with two backs.

I don't know the board, but I'm fairly certain Kamara is #1 on the board all the way. Ending up with 2 backs wouldn't be a complete doomsday scenario IMO.

If we don't get Paulk back, it could. 2 backs in this class only gives us 4. Hurd and Kamara are the only 2 who have any experience (and Kamara's is only JUCO experience). We haven't seen anything from Scott yet and then whoever the 2nd back is in this class. If the last 2 don't show anything, then Hurd or Kamara gets hurt, we are left with who? Pickett?

even if we get a third its just another freshmen. look at it this year, unless we have another Hurd in 15, we are stacking inexperience/questionable ability to produce on top of the same. more does not always equal better.

More sure does give you a better chance of equaling better. As LV would say, it's all a numbers thing.

According to his interview on 247 Reid sure sounds like a solid commitment, uses "we" and "us" alot in his interview. He is going to visit UGA, however.

I think we do end up with 3 Rb's in the class. I'm just not panicking if it ends up being 2.

He takes that visit and IMO he loses his spot. As should any recruit who commits then takes visits IMO. Yes, for me it does not matter what they are ranked.

But it is okay for the coaches to continue to HEAVILY recruit his position? Get out of here with that BS man.

You know how it works on here. If it's a 4* or a 5* who as mentioned Tennessee at all means all the 2*-3* current commits are on the chopping block and getting teed up to be dropped. It's just recruiting and ALL schools do it. CBJ bases his evals on 247 rankings. Everyone knows this. Duh.

IMO that depends on how many they plan to take. If they told Reid they were taking 2 RBs and then continue to recruit other backs, yes the UT coaches are 100% in the wrong. IF they did not start pushing for other RBs till after Rocky started to talk about taking visits, then it's on him.

Most know I have said all along I would not trade Reid for any of the other RBs UT is looking at. He opens the door by taking trips, CBJ has got to fill the spot.

Reid has said he is solid to UT. I applaud the young man for looking out for numero uno. CBJ has continued to show huge interest in 3-4 other backs. IMO, Reid sees this and wants to do his due diligence in setting up an acceptable fall back option. Actions speak louder than coach speak, and Reid probably sees that. I hope RR signs with UT, but if things do not work out it leaves him in a satisfactory position. His spot should not be recruited over just because he wants to fully evaluate his 2nd and 3rd options. Loyalty is a two way street.

I agree loyalty has to be a 2 way street. Unfortunately I have seen this UT staff not do things the right way at times. I do hope this was a case where they did not. IMO Reid is a big time RB and it will hurt if we lose him. Tough for me to say what I think for sure as I don't know if Reid started the visit talk before or after CBJ stated looking at more RBs.

IMO what Reid and his family should do is ask CBJ a direct question IF he still wants to be a Vol. "If I don't take any other visits but UT, will you stop pushing for other RBs"? If CBJ says no, RR has got to do what's best for him. At times 1 question IMO solves a lot of problems.

Communication solves alot of problems. I would seriously hate seeing RR flip to UGA and him maul us over the next 4 years. That would suck.

I get your worldview, but I don't think you could ever complain about the on-field results with this world view. If you want to settle for 2nd rate players (not saying Reid is one, just speaking to your argument about loyalty), then you should settle for 2nd rate results.

Whereas I want wins, and those require ballers. The more ballers, the better.

Here's the good news. Love is a great back. Reid is a great back. Bussey is a great back. Dauphine is a great back. We will be fine.

I'm confident that any recruit UT decides to offer and or accept their commitment is a "baller". The * ranking really does not matter to me at that point where it clearly does to others. I do think loyalty in recruiting is possible and with what UTs coaches preach all the time SHOULD be held to a higher standard. For me it's simple. If the coaches think a recruit is 2nd rate, they should not be taking his commitment to begin with. They say yes, and IMO the kid should feel secure in his being a Vol.
