'15 NC RB Rocky Reid (Wake Forest commit)

Whether he goes to Georgia and plays behind Chubb and Michel or to Tennessee and plays behind Hurd and Kamara, I don't see him getting many carries at least for his first two seasons. Not a big loss if it happens in my opinion.

I'm local to Reid and biased and I'll eat crow if I am wrong but I don't think we want to face this kid down the road. No he may not be a guy to get big carries his Freshman year at a place like UGA but he is the kind of bruising work horse that is coveted in most run first offenses or he wouldn't have the offers he does.

This kid is good. He will get carries next year IMHO. He will be a Chubb like RB.

Or I think he'll be like that bruising white FB they had at UGA that showed glimpses in 2013 but was injured. I can't remember his name but he often played late and laid brutal nasty punishing runs late in games.

Are you talking about Douglas? I think he's #22

Edit: it was Taylor Maxey. I remember now.

I sure like how LSU manages to bring in a fresh big bruising RB late in the game to pound the other team into submission. Maybe RR fits that mold?

Lol. No.

Chubb is one of the better RBs in the nation because not only can he run over you, he has the speed to punish your team if you can't bring him down. Reid has the bruiser part but he's not a threat to take it to the house every play. The overstatement on some players just makes me laugh. I like Reid and I think he will be a good RB somewhere possibly for us but I don't see him as being in the same mold as Chubb.

We need a back like Chubb, a true gamebreKer

Alvin Kamara, Reid, and Love.. why does everyone assume that Reid will jump if Love commits?

and thats a stellar RB class btw. They are all special backs in their own right.

I do. I do not see Reid as some flashy back some recruitniks would drool over. I do however see him as the 3rd and short holy cow he just crushed through the line for 10 that this team could use to keep Hurd healthy. He'd also make for a great blocking option and goal line guy. Yes Hurd is a bruiser too but having 2 bruisers makes for lots of success late into difficult games.

The kid is smashing every rushing record in his area. That doesn't happen very often, it takes a special type of player to push himself that far. That, and he isn't even in our S&C program yet. I think Reid will be great, and I'm glad he's still a Vol commit (atm).

Keeping in mind that "his" area was also Jay Grahm's. He's breaking some solid records is all I am saying.

I agree with you. It's like people downplayed Miller breaking White's in game sack record because it was vs Kentucky. We play them every year, why hasn't it been done before. I ask the same to anyone willing to downplay Reid's body of work and act like it isn't as great as it really is.

This will be my last homer post but I went to school with Jay and I have seen Reid. They are absolutely different type backs because Jay selected UT for track purposes. That said they are equally electric and impressive for what they are. Reid is a solid built crusher that has been extremely durable considering the carries. I would love to see UT get him. I don't want to see us face him in the SEC.

Breaking White's record was a great feat, but I think people just wanted to see more consistency from Miller over his career. "Where has that been?" Frankly, that was for that entire defensive line as well.

Well.. I'd say a great deal of that was the fact that they nearly had a new position coach every year they were here. The most bleak period of football in my life, the pizza slingin, Jersey Shore experiment known as Sal Sunseri. :realmad::realmad::realmad::realmad:

Yea, I wasn't really criticizing him/them; that was just the response from some. It is tough during so many caoching changes. However, it appeared that the talent was there, and sometimes talent will still shine during changes.

Per Hubbs

The running backs continue to be a topic of conversation as Rocky Reid made a visit to Georgia this past weekend and Bryce Love headed west to Stanford.

The consensus is that the Vols are likely in a fight now to hang on to Reid as Georgia wants to add at least one more running back to their class and their lone running back commitment is taking visits to other schools.

We shall see... I think he's a guy who gets great yards after contact. But we shall see. His height weight and 40 time are pretty much identical to Chubbs. They both play faster than they are. Straight line speed isn't that important. If u run in the 4.5 range and are hard to take down and shifty... That's plenty.
