'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

As were experiments with Jerry Colquitt, Todd Helton, Brandon Stewart, Joey Matthews, AJ Suggs, and Brent Schaeffer. We didn't just seemlessly transition into those guys without weeding through some others to get to that point.

And Helton went on to become an all-timr great...in a different sport haha

This. I think he'll finish his career in the same fashion as Matt Simms. A second string QB who helps the younger guys learn the system, and plays if called upon. I hope he at least stays next season so we can redshirt Jennings and Dormady.

Me, too. He's analogous to the veteran NFL QB who a new coach brings with him to help the youngsters understand the offense. He'll be like another coach for JJ and QD.

Not fair to call Colquitt a "failed experiment"...he was in the middle of his first SERIES (and looking good) against UCLA and?...knee gone career over.

Brandon Stewart wasn't exactly a failed experiment. If he was in a QB competition with anyone other than Peyton he would have had a good shot at winning. He went on to have a good career at TAMU.

Where did I ever use the word "failed" experiment?

Yeah we took license...you didn't exactly spin it as a POSITIVE tho. :hi:

Unless "weed"s are. :)

I just meant to say it wasn't as easy as going directly from Kelly to Shuler to Manning to Martin to Clausen to Ainge. There was definitely some adjustments in there where some guys were inserted and removed (either by injury or bad play). I didn't mean weeding in a negative sense about the players. More a matter of speech referring to a search for that next great player.

I think that guy would have been a star player. He had shown total command of the offense in mop up duty for Shuler the year before. We showed no drop off with him in there. Remember he barely got beaten out by Shuler for starting qb.

I do...still ticks me off that the NCAA dimwits denied him a medical redshirt.

Freaking conspiracy:detective:

Played first series first game...that's it...Miami had a DE (Rusty Medearis I think) that would blow his knee out every year and those clowns would rubber stamp his medical...he finally refused to come back on the last one (bone on bone)

Jauan Jennings > Gibson
I'm not saying this because TG went to Ohio State but honestly the better QB right now is Jauan Jennings. TG is a great athlete but he has a lot of footwork and detailed things to work on and Jauan does as well but he seems to have a little more of a grasp on these smaller things.

Impressed by Jauan's release. Much quicker than last year and his velocity is much improved too. Love his ceiling!

Jennings' footwork looked very good in a recent video. The way he keeps his feet moving while in the pocket reminds me of another QB we are all very find of.
