'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

I was referring to the coaches heaping unheard of amounts of praise on him, but you know VQ will participate in the hype machine if asked. Not saying he's not doing great, but he's getting more praise from coaches than anyone on the team. "Competing for starting spot" is strictly hype to encourage him after making a correct and tough decision.

Just let it go, man. I think everyone is seeing something special in this kid. Why are you trying to dispute those reviews? I really don't understand that attitude at all.

You want to say you always thought Jennings was going to be great while still holding on to the ability to play the "I told you so!" card later if he isn't Carl Pickens.

Jennings is a stud, no doubt. He's definitely in the 2 deep at this point IMO. Not giving up on Malone though, he's looking much better, and I think Jennings is going to make him better too.

I'm pumped to see Jennings showing out at practice. You can tell the kid wants to help this team win. I think he'll be in the rotation, but I don't know about 2-deep yet. If all healthy, it'd be hard for him to beat out North, Pig, Pearson, Smith, Croom, or Malone, seeing as how he's been a receiver for a week and probably doesn't know this scheme well enough yet. He has the potential to be a big contributor late in the season, though. JMO. GBO.

Ya that's it. Man you've got issues.

Compelling rebuttal. I was a fool to try to match wits with you. A damn fool.

I think it's easy to see how excited people are about Jennings. Coaches and fans alike see something special in the kid. I would just rather enjoy watching his development than qualifying every positive remark.

LOL, yes I qualified every single positive remark. Every one. Someone who's so blindly defensive of anyone who doesn't buy the hype that he'll steal a starting spot must be put in his place.

No reason to give up on him.
Malone is coming along just fine. He'll be in the two deep. If he stays healthy he should have a good season. Jennings is a better player than him imo.

Guess I'm not most people as I expect Pig, North, and Smith / Malone with Croome the next up if he becomes 100%.
Von not in the top 5? No thanks. He was our leading scorer as a receiver last year even through his injuries. Von has a knack of getting wide open near the end zone.

I might be missing something, but has anyone seen Jennings do anything other than catch passes in drills? Has their been film of him going against our defense? He's never played an SEC defense. I think he's a great athlete, and I hope he learns the knacks of playing WR quickly, but maybe we shouldn't exalt him too quickly..

oh ok

If Jennings really does become an immediate contributor, our WR corp will be the best in the country. We'd be about 7 deep with quality NFL caliber WRs.

Starters: Marquez North, Von Pearson, Pig Howard
Backups: Josh Malone, Jauan Jennings, Josh Smith
X factor: Preston Williams

Thats 5 guys between 6'3" and 6'4" with good speed and 2 small guys who are burners. On paper, this group looks absolutely dominant. They just need to stay healthy and produce. With Dobbs at QB, I think they will.

Why do people keep forgetting about Croom? He was our best Red Zone receiver last year.......and he's a beast!

That's the good thing about having the sickest WR group top to bottom in the country. Several guys that have starter potential. I just expect VP to start. He was huge part of last years offense. The only way he doesn't start is of the staff doesn't feel good about letting him start over a guy that didn't put himself in a bad situation. Even in that scenario I only see it lasting a game or 2.

north, Pig and VP is my take based on talent and experience to take first snaps but then throughout the game your probably going to consistently see 8-10 different WRs rotating in and out. We are going to wear out some secondaries if we are able to do that to always have fresh WRs in game

He is built like a beast. He can also throw a hell of a right hook at an 18 year old kid like a beast. Unfortunately, he doesn't play receiver like a beast.

Coming off an ACL. Plus I don't really think he has the speed to be a good receiver at all times. He's a great situtational player like you said, our best receiver in the red zone because of his size and physicality. However, I don't see him being better than any of the 7 guys I listed outside of those special situations in which his size makes a difference.
