'15 TN ATH Jauan Jennings (UT commit 4/7/14)

He's gonna be a nightmare for DBs. Why you ask? He's angry and has that competitor's attitude that wants to humiliate the competition.

He's tall. He's fast. He has good hands. He's athletic. But he's raw. I bet over the season we will see him grow up fast and end up being a starter.

They said is route running has been great, as well.

Probably not as raw as one would think.

Hopefully we will have time to throw more than just screens.

We have all the pieces to at least take some pressure off the OL.

Mobile QB.
Two stud RBs, one of whom is a beast of blocker.
A deep/talented enough WR corps to be fresh in the 4th quarter.

Surely DeBord/Mahoney can figure out a way to scheme around their weaknesses with all the weapons around them.

Perfect guy to run a sweep or 2 a game or even a little wildcat. Make the defense think and give them a different look. Can throw the ball too if they aren't on their toes.

Gonna be a playmaker here.

Excited about JJ, but some of this is exaggerated hype to solidify the position switch. Kid gave up his qb dream, coaches need to make sure he doesn't regret it.

That said, very glad to hear his potential. He's not taking any starting spots though.

Success breeds happiness. I'd wager a good amount he is a lot happier practicing well at WR than he was struggling at QB.

The kid is a true freshman, it's the first week of practice and he just joined the deepest platoon on the team. Not to mention the reviews coming out of camp are enthusiastically positive. But if you have the book closed on him then I guess that is that. Starting spot or GTFO, right?

You know as little as anyone so just save it for a few weeks.

I don't think anyone is saying he will start but I wouldn't call it exaggerated hype when it's the media forming their own opinion of him. They aren't feeding you what the coaches want you to hear. He is an elite athlete That several analyst said during recruiting had NFL talent if he would just switch positions. If he allowed himself to be recruited/considered as an athlete then he likely gets ranked as a 5 star or close to it.

He will definitely be in the rotation but most people expect the first line to be Pig, North and VP. If the staff still wants to make VP earn it come game day then it is entirely possible you see a JEnnings or Smith starting over VP as a reward for their effort but that doesn't mean they would get more snaps. This staff is going to rotate WR so plenty of snaps to go around

he is an incredible athlete. If this works out then he will look back one day and see that he made himself alot of money with that position switch. Hes honestly a natural at it and he doesnt regret it. I dont think the VQ ppl would be giving you a bunch of bs. If they say hes challenging for time in the first rotation then thats exactly whats happening. He is that good of an athlete.

I was referring to the coaches heaping unheard of amounts of praise on him, but you know VQ will participate in the hype machine if asked. Not saying he's not doing great, but he's getting more praise from coaches than anyone on the team. "Competing for starting spot" is strictly hype to encourage him after making a correct and tough decision.

More important than all of this, we need to set the over/under for how many times I get mad that an announcer calls him "Juan" on TV during the season. I say 12.

Yep.

You downplayed the positive reviews that have been coming in by saying he is being given exaggerated praise by the coaches because he was willing to change positions.

But you saying that you are "excited" turned this into a veiled insult rather than overt criticism.

I read it.

If you watched the Oakland vs Blackman game last year, then you saw Jennings put on a show.

Athletic playmaking QBs are a good bet to be the best athlete on the team usually.

Because of their skill set to improvise with the ball in their hands.

Jennings could very well start.
He's really good.

You must be projecting insecurities if you took it that way. Bottom line, he's not stealing a starting job, that's called overhype. Doesn't make him a bad prospect. He's going to be a great replacement for our outgoing guys.

Jennings is a stud, no doubt. He's definitely in the 2 deep at this point IMO. Not giving up on Malone though, he's looking much better, and I think Jennings is going to make him better too.
